Van Damme Wants To Get Owned.

That other guy's smile is bigger than Van Dam.

I bet he looks kinda rough because he is so lean. He will be fighting against a guy who was 126lbs in his prime, not the huge guy he is pictured with(Not that, that, means anything. The light weight guys in kickboxing are unreal quick. Also the guy on the right is closer to the camera)

I think we should give the guy some credit.

Nahhh...training your whole life in martial arts and pursuing it in the means to only fake fight for use on film is much different from training for a real MMA fight.

Randy Couture...now THAT guy deserves some credit. At 45 he took on the largest fighter in the UFC and lasted the longest anyone has against him so far.

No offense but, it just isn't the same.

Props to him for devoting himself to what he loves most....but as a true FIGHTER....he's not gonna survive.

JCVD actually competed between '76-'80 before coming to America to pursue an acting career.
He retired with an 18-1 record. He also won the European Karate Association's middleweight championship in 1980.
Wins: 11 KO/7 TKO - Losses: 1 by decision

I for one want to see this upcoming match and see what he's got.

I've taken Tae Kwon Do since I was 10 and I can tell you that at least 50% of people who have black belts would get their butts handed to them in a pro fight. Why? Because they got the belts through classes and didn't compete. They know the techniques, but if they don't compete they aren't prepared for a fight. In a street fight they would probably have no problem. Having said that, even though I've been competing for years, I wouldn't even attempt a MMA type fight without some additional training. It's totally different than competing in your discipline.

Just right. In TKD no punching to the face(In the 90s anyway, tough to remember when you change styles) That rule is fine when both guys follow it but when you go into an MMA event and have not trained to expect shots to the face or, for that matter, grappling, you can wind up in trouble quick.

I'd swing that percentage to the high 90s. TKD is sport fighting and while it CAN be applied to real world situations, it's not flexible enough on it's own to hold up in (as mentioned) an MMA world.
