Hey Guys,
I need to know what your take on this helmet is. I have seen it on the bay for a while now and it seems pretty good for $360. What do you think?

If that's the ebayer I'm thinking of, his ebay name starts with an 'i'? He's from China, or something?

If it's the same guy, I bought some lenses from him, they were okay but not up to the standard I'm used to seeing in the Vader area.

I'm am far from being an expert, I have seen this Helmet a few times on Ebay myself. I like the looks of it, but some of the edges seem a bit rounded. I think the face may be a modified Rubies Deluxe recast.
The Dome looks to be a new sculpt and is more ROTJ than ESB as it lacks the "Y" crease in the widows peak area. Also it is pretty flared like some of the older 20th Century Domes. The dome is real thick, much thicker than any Vader dome I have seen, it must be heavy. Overall, I like the look of the face and dome and think the price is reasonable...if you receive a helmet that looks like the pictures.
I would be very interested to see some more pics of this helmet taken by the buyers.

Detail looks very soft....I also agree with what Joe has said about the dome flare, etc...
IMO...You'd be faaaar better off getting a DP Classic Action and repainting it for that kinda dough. There was on in the JY recently...

The dome doenst look like an ESB. The flare is too wide and the edge is too thick. It looks more ANH than anything without the peak.

The guy is a seller from Thailand, icphysics, I think his Ebay name was. Anyway, I've been following the development of his Vader helmet for the past one year and I know for a fact he started off with a recast of a Rubies Supreme. His first offering had the tell-tale signs of a Supreme, i.e. neck flare, soft dome ridge, four nose ridges etc. The only thing uniquely his is the spiky mounting mechanism on the faceplate. I think he has been making improvements to his faceplate to accurize it, but the base is still the Rubies Supreme. He may have recasted a different dome now, though. I don't know but it looks very much like Portumac's to me, especially the dome flare.

So do you guys think that this is still a decent helmet for the price or could I get a comporable dome somewhere else? Thanks everyone!

Brad

Well this is the Bangkok one. It is "cheap", but has some details in which it isn't accurate, like the dome's shape. The dome on those picture is thicker than on the helmet you'll receive. But the main default of this helmet is that it's fragile. I had to reapar it once, and the guy who did it for me had to fill in some bubbles in the fiber before re-painting it.

Actually, there are some tells of the Don Post Deluxe / Classic Action in his cast that do not exist on the Rubie's Supreme (plastic) unless you're referring to the Rubie's Fiberglass Limited Edition which is from the same mold, supposedly, as the Don Post Deluxe, although somewhat modified to make it different. :thumbsup

If I compare the Thailand helmet with the Don Post Deluxe, it somewhat looks smaller and more warped.

The Don Post Deluxe was originally marketed as ESB, but the dome suggest more ROTJ. However the dome mid strip on the Deluxe has had details softened. Fan vendors building upon that can tend to make the mid strip a bit on the wide side. A Rubie's plastic dome is also wide in this regard.

Hope that helps.
