Vader Episode IV Force FX

I just got an email from Master Replicas telling me that the Vader episode IV force FX saber goes on pre-order tomorrow...

Um, don't I already own one of these? Am I just confused? Because I distinctly remember owning an Episode IV Vader in addition to an episode V Vader.

Is this a re-issue? Did they re-make it with the new, thicker blade with a thinner hilt? Will it help get rid of the rash on my bacK? What's going on?

Yup, re-release.

They're esentially modifing the current ESB to have it be a better size. I really don't think they changed anything else. I doubt it will have a better blade like the Maul or updated sounds.

Interesting. If they are going to re-release something you'd think they'd make improvements to entice the people who bought the first one to buy the new and improved one.

Are you saying it IS modified xwing band?

If they are using the ESB version as a starting point and reworking it ANH style it will be a big improvement on the original ANH FX saber release (which was oversized).

From what I understand it will have the better, upgraded blade and lighting-along witht he correct size hilt.

Hopefully they will use the plug-in type blade instead of the hardwired ones so making the blade removable won't be a pain in the arse.

From MR -
(now to decide if I should replace the one I already bought...darn improvements :D )

Yup, that's why I think it's pretty lame... other than cosmetics it will be the ESB saber.

It won't be better in anyway. Not any sturdier, no improvements, nothing, zip, nada... If you have an ESB there is virtually no reason to upgrade.

It's almost the same with the Luke ANH they're making. It will be to Anakin ROTS except cosmetically. Only if you dig the graflex style and don't want the oversized ESB it will appeal. I have a Graflex saber so I could care less.

The Yoda saber is too big... this a totally lack luster year in the FX line for me. I'll just being buying the older ones for the electronic guts as usual.

Anybody know if they plan to release a Dooku FX?
[/b]

This year is Yoda ROTS, Vader ANH and Luke ANH.

Dooku will not be made for a long while... it's not an easy saber to make.

I understand the complications with the electronics and the shape of the hilt and accomodating everything in a shorter space.Would make a completely aces fx saber though.I'd buy it in a second. :)

Some MR person (cant remember which) said there would be 4 FX's this year I believe. That would mean, Yoda, Vader, Luke, and possibly (most likely) Obi-Wan.
As for the Yoda, it's not even out yet, I don't see how you could say its oversized unless you have one by some odd chance, or saw it in comparison to a replica saber, or know the exact measurements of the entire thing. :unsure
I'll wait to see the Luke before I pass judgement on that, and since I have 2 Vader ANH's already, I'll wait until I can scrounge this one up on ebay for cheap. Heck even if is a rehash, it's gotta' be better than the glitchy over sensative originals.

Yes, I have seen comparison pics of the Yoda FX, and yes it's oversized.

The Yoda may be oversized, but from those pics it still looks nice and a pretty good size all things considered. Even the Parks 'Yoda' saber is oversized, I don't think you can get all the necessary electronics in a hilt the correct size, at least not yet.

As far as the ANH Vader FX, the original was an EL, not the LED with power up and power down effect, and from what I remember the sound had glitches. If the new ANH is nothing else then the ESB FX with different grips, clamp, and no wires, I'll pick one up if I can get it at a decent price- it would be nice to add it to the collection to round out the ANH stuff.

James, I have an ANH Vader FX and I can safely say that it is a LED blade, not EL, and it does have the power up, power down effect. There were sound glitches though and the blade was not as bright as the ESB FX.

He's right. The only EL was the Anakin AOTC and the first Luke ROTJ. As for the new ANH, I was hoping for an all new model but I might pick one of these up if they fix the ignition/clash sounds. Something they didn't do in the ESB design. Or the Maul for that matter. :angry

Damn that is oversized :confused
I didn't think it was that big. It still doesn't look all that bad to me though. It is more of a collectibale toy rather than an all out replica anyway.

Yeah the original vader was LED. It's the easiest of all to take apart, so when on of mine broke, I found that I could fix it easily enough. I still havent fixed it though, converted it to a stunt so I could play with it. B)
