Vader Belt Boxes... and electronics

Hello guys.. I have been lurking for quite a while, and have garnered lots of info from the great people here... so.. its time for me to start talking...

Over the last month, I have dropped a lot of cash on 501st approved stuff to make my ROTS Vader... and I am down to the last part... the belt boxes and chest box lighting...

I have a portumac chest box... no electronics.. so, need to know how or where to get the electronics to make it blink.. that should be an easy one... anyone?

I have secured what I think is (close enough) the proper project boxes to make the belt boxes... now, I need to know if anyone has a schematic of the layout for the holes, and idea of the actual sizes of the green and red lights or LEDS used... Direct links to US sellers etc... I own a business that does laser etching and cutting, so if I can get real dimensions, I could mass produce the belt boxes... it seems that NO ONE makes them... not even a random set on ebay ever...

Are the knobs on eBay sold by Fenixprops proper?

So what ever anyone can do to help.. I appreciate it..

Hi there and welcome aboard ... you may also like to join the SLD Forums http://forum.501stsithlords.com/index.php?act=idx if you haven't already and post a #1 introduction post there so you'll get access to their marketplace ... there you'll find all kinds of sellers for 501st approved stuff and also lots of information you seek including those belt boxes. I just do not know enough about the exact ROTS DV costume parts to aid you any further . . . however I'm quite certain folks on the SLD can assist you better and they might even welcome you as a new vendor who makes accurate DV ROTS belt boxes :)

Thanks for your reply... I have joined their site, but it doesn't seem to be UP very often.... I have found a lot of good information.. just nothing on the electronics... I guess I will just get them as close as I can, and see what people think... because Vader was not in the movie long enough to get good reference pictures...

Did you post an introduction yet? That will also give you access to Watto's Junkyard and you can check the works done by Dark-Side for the OT ... there should be some topics regarding the electronics : http://forum.501stsithlords.com/index.php?showtopic=6233&page=3#entry94607 is one I found again.

I used high power green leds from Radioshack : http://www.radioshack.com/radioshack-4-pin-high-brightness-power-led-green/2760027.html#.VJA9zifdPLU ... you could always post your ROTS WIP build and folks will come and give you advice on how to proceed :)

I can second that, I have been on there for about a year now and the members there are amazing and are more than happy to welcome and help any newcomers!

Once you write your first post their on the SLD the Sale section will become available for you to view, so go introduce yourself, let them know what you're thinking and then you will be able to delve into your research.

If you're worried about "it not up very often," the only reason it's been down for a bit is because they are carrying out much needed server maintenance to help the site run smoother (this is the only time in an entire year that it has been down, it's always been very reliable).

Hope that helps.
