Vacuume forming heating element options and solutions?

Greetings,
So I'm all ready to start vacuum forming. I have my 20"x23" table, but now need a heat source that can heat a large sheet evenly. I know James at xrobot used a might fine looking heater, but those aren't really cheap or easy to find here in Hawaii (its always hot).
So I was wondering if I could use a replacement oven coil? Like this

What would it take to hook it up to a standard outlet? It cant possibly be as easy as a ground and power source to the two terminals coming from the oven coil. I dont need to be able to adjust the heat, as I can just add distance between heat source and plastic sheets.

Other options I have was to use portable electric range stoves. But the oven coils seems would heat move evenly.

I know that they sell heating elements for BBQ smokers, that already have a outlet plug, but I would rather use a oven element, since they're bigger than smoker elements.

In my 24"x24" former I use two electric griddles. I had to cut the thermometer probes off, but they work great. You remove all the plastic parts, and there are threaded posts already there, making installing them easy. And they are already designed to spread out heat, so you will have less problems with hotspots. Still not as good as a professional set up, but good enough for me!
