V Visitor Laser Gun Replica Prop - Idealized Version - Development & Improvements

are you going to sell also the hero version without electronic?
i would like to play with arduino :)

Sure, no problem. As a matter of fact, I don't know If I will be able to sell them with all the electronics installed. IF I do some of them, will be a few.

Inside the handle, that has lot of room for that. will have to drill small holes to improve audio output. Those holes will be in the resin cast. Will have more details when I start that mold.

Quick update. Today I applied the first primer coat. As you will see the surface is porous, but several coats will smooth it.

This week will be doing the filling and sanding stuff to start with the mold. Also I will open the "Stunt" kit list. I will start with the Stunt version, cause It is the affordable one, and since there are several Do It Yourself fellows, don't want to stuck them until I finish the other versions.

Looking nice! I love CAD based builds.

I've found that skinning a porous part with a thin layer of model putty (or something similar) helps a lot in getting a good surface for painting. I've put down six coats of filler primer and still not gotten the surface I've wanted, while the details soften... Of course it's easy when you have big flat surfaces to sand- with all the detail on this it may be tricky...

Now, as you apply more primer to "smooth it out" will it start to lose the sharp edges and corners and look more like the "stunt gun", where from a distance it looks cool but up close it looks all gloppy and not as "precise and machined"?

As you can see in the next photos, the primer I am using won't hide any detail. As a matter of fact, It is smoothing the porous texture here and there:

Already sanded those gaps and will be checking for more flaws in the Nylon, which is really strong to sand.:love

I am really thinking in buying one of them and transform it into a pressure chamber:

Any experience? any comment? I want to get super clear cast and I know this is just a way to do it. Quite an investment from me since I have to ship it from USA to Argentina and It is really heavy.
