V for Vendetta. Question for all you costume gurus!

First of all, I apologize in advance. I know threads like this irritate the living crap out of all of us board old-timers and I assure you, I would never post this query if I didn't feel I've exercised all my options and come up snake-eyes every time I've rolled the dice.

The previous "V" related threads seemed to have lost a lot of information in the board switch-over, the DVD extras and the "making of" book seem to create more questions than they answer so here is my question,...

I want to put together a "V" costume and assemble it on a mannequin in my workshop. Now I know there's a lot of masks out there, from the cold-cast porcelin DC direct version, to the crappy plastic one as well as that gorgeous fiberglass one, (that I believe someone here is offering), so I think I've got the mask covered.

But the wig, the hat, the high-neck tunic/waistcoat thing he wears, and the cloak seem to be eluding me.

Do any of you costuming masters have any suggestions?

I can get the boots, gloves and the black trousers, and I've seen some nice repros of the daggers but the clothing pieces seem to be stumping me.

Again, Cloak, hat, wig, tunic.

I've got no problem going custom, for anyone so inclined and with the desire and time, but if there's anywhere I can grab stuff "off the shelf" so to speak, I woul be eternally grateful for any leads.

Well, being that they were all custom made fore Mr. Weaving, your best bet is to have them fully tailored.

The Top is based off a Late Gothic period Doublet.

This is the Sideshows figure which very accurately portrays V's costume.

Here is a revised version I just did of the first doublet picture, with the neccessary modifications to it.

The top was made with a very distinctly raised pattern of material, which is a checker style, but is very unique none the less.

As for the hat, it was custom made, just a felt pressed hat. Using Felt and a wooden buck to mold the hat, then lined on the brim with a black satin.

The wig is justt a straight haired wig, cut straight along the bottom, and with straight bangs. There was alot of debate when the movie first came out that the wig was black, but I can quite assure you, it was a dark brown.

The Gloves are just black leather fencing gloves with gauntlets.

Yes, and I'm indeed working on throwing out a few casts before I leave for my summer job. I have, however been distracted by finals. Daggers and everything else are being reworked this summer.

As far as everything else goes, LOBH has pretty much dead on (tho it is a cavalier period doublet it is based off). Everything is custom. The hat is a modernized version of what we would refer to as a pilgrim hat, the doublet is a modernized version of the afforementioned. Fencing gauntlets would work in a pinch for the gloves. I wasn't happy with the way they looked and ended up adding gauntlets to a pair of unlined wilson's leather gloves.
The wig I'm going to be the least help with. Mine was custom made for me by Randy Houston Mercer, a famous NY makeup artist that does work at my school and kind of take up space in my office. Yes, and I'm indeed working on throwing out a few casts before I leave for my summer job. I have, however been distracted by finals. Daggers and everything else are being reworked this summer.

I adore the film and I wanna do the V mannequin up right. I will get on the ball with this and any relevant info I may find out I will let you guys know.

Not that you need it but in the interest of sharing. If I find any killer custom hat makers or something, great sources for gloves etc.

hey guys im new to this forum but for this Halloween im going to be doing a V for Vendetta costume and was wondering where i might be able to get his jacket and pants Ive been looking for doublets but haven't found one close enough yet. Also if you guys might know where to pick a good belt and knives. i have about 300 for this outfit. any help would be awesome thanks so much

I would be interested as well, I did my previous V outfit again this last weekend but would like ro upgrade some pieces at some point. Almost got that six dagger set before but wasn't sure about metal dagggers and con...still want SOMETHING better as well as the belt/buckle.
