V for Vendetta costume

I posted this in the V thread in the prop forum as well, but I felt this really belonged here.

Still have a couple of hat adjustments, a closure for the back of the belt, backing the eyes in the mask, hopefully finding a new wig, and finishing the daggers (of course). But here it is in almost all it's glory. To get more than this you'll just have to go to Dragon Con. Without further ado...

Voila.

very cool. Love this suit.

I would suggest wearing an underarmour head sock so that your ears arent seen
when you move about, you could even stitch the wig to it.

That's not a bad idea. Better than the "paint my face and ears black" idea that I was going to go with. Wonder where I can find one locally. Getting too late for mail order.

If you don´t find one, go the mucho cheapo route and buy opaque nylon stockings. And no, I am not hinting at crossdressing because of the wig ;)

When I had to come up with a faceless motor cycle rider, and we didn´t have time to go out and buy a black helmet screen, having the actual biker wear nylon stocking over his head worked like a charm to keep to give the illusion of a faceless man.

Go to any sports supply store (I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods). They're pretty cheap, and they should be in stock.

As far as the rest of the costume goes, I really like it, but I've always been more partial to the brown hair of the comic version. Otherwise, it's a little too much black, IMO. Still, I'm jealous because of that doublet, lol. Very nice. :thumbsup

With your skill, you could whip a headsock together quickly with a nylon or a lightweight spandex.
The suit is gorgeous, thank you for sharing.
:thumbsup :D

Whoa. That turned out great. We recently watched the movie (I know, a bit behind the times), and my first thought was "I really want to make that costume"...turns out you beat me to it and did a bang-up job at the same time. I'm looking forward to seeing that up close.

Ha. yeah.. I almost called you about the dagger frogs on the belt. But I had to fasttrack something so I could get it done for DC. Learned lotsa new tricks with this outfit tho.

So here's a quick pic from Dragon Con of my completed V... I know some folks wanted to see the daggers. I customed these on the fly.. My first real attempt at a weapon prop. Now it's time to upgrade some things and maybe move on to the fencing costume since this one was fairly well received.

I saw a couple other Vs there and was trying to catch up to the one handing out roses for a chat and to ask where he got his hat. Anyone claim that one or know who does?

Wow, that looks awesome. I missed 'V' in theaters but I watched it on DVD with my brother and had to buy it the next day and make my wife watch it.

Your costume looks great ..

Didn't have the chance to tell you what a great job you did on this, and how phenomenal it turned out. I'd like to see the fencing outfit when you get it done...that ought to be interesting.

I just recently saw it too and was pleasantly surprised....great performance by "V" himself. Nice rendition of the costume.

Chris I told ya there when I saw you as casual V, but that is DAMN impressive.

So when are you gonna make the doublet pattern available huh????

how bout posting the pattern in the "Free Paper Props" thread eh??

Th logistics of posting this whole pattern in a free paper props thread are a bit astounding. As soon as I have some free time I plan on copying the pattern off on something readable ( I drafted it on brown craft paper) so I can run off copies at Kinkos. Haven't decided on a price yet. The pattern as is runs in my size (42), so that size will likely run less since it's already drafted.

I also plan on offering the buckle and daggers as soon as I get around to cleaning everything up and what not. I'm having to play catch-up on these lovely graduate studies and designing a show for a mainstage production at school right now, so things are pretty hectic. I'm usually pretty good at staying on top of things tho, so after I make up for slacking off on D*Con weekend I'll have a bit more spare time.

Darth Mule it was nice meeting you at Dragon and your suit looks amazing. Espically in person.
