Us Military looks to Hollywood to design military uniforms and equipment

Hollywood Special Effect houses such as Legacy Effects, have been tapped by the military to help in the design of special soldier suits and equipment for our military men and women.

Check out the video here explaining it all:

From The Wall Street Journal:

The U.S. Military has recruited Hollywood prop makers and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. Their mission: Build a real Iron Man suit to protect America's elite fighting men and women.

Companies like Raytheon have been looking into this stuff for years, if not decades, and still only have prototypes. I find it hard to believe that the military actually thinks that SFX companies can come up with something that will be feasible. That being said, the US government invested in solar roadways, and the British military would call the SFX guys on the Bond films, so there's definitely a precedent for politicians not realizing that it's a movie gadget and not real.
