US Air Force Manufacturer's Models--Pic Intensive

Hi Everyone,
I didn't know if this would be a topic of interest or not but I thought I'd share anyway. My Grandfather was career Air Force between 1940 (technically the Army Air Corps at that point) until his retirement in 1971. He had, like a lot of his colleagues, a typically varied career. Over the years I've inherited a number of relics from his service, including his flight jacket from WWII, and a number of model airplanes he had collected. When he died in 2002 I was given a box full of the models that he hadn't parted with yet and here they are. They are all manufacturers models some are of aircraft that he helped test and develop others he was given:

And the one I coveted as a child:

His best friend from the Service, my "Uncle" Hank, helped get the B-1 project through Congress in the 1970's and gave him the model pictured above and I lusted after if for years. I have three other models that I haven't been able to track down for the moment: a metal C-133, a plastic C-130, an F-104 Starfighter in serious need of restoration, and a B-2 that was given to me by a cousin who got to tour the Skunkworks when he was active duty. If I can find them I'll try and add them if anyone is interested. Of course if anyone else has any similar models or experiences I'd love to hear them too!

Thanks for looking,

Dave

man those are awesome for a couple of reasons:

1) they were your grandfather's
2) they are manufactor's models

I have seen some displayed in our ready rooms (over the years) and always wanted some. they nice and I hope you can find the others and post pictures.

Oh I've always loved these type of models. I use to admire them down at the cape when I was a kid (and still, lol)
