Urko from TV series Planet of the Apes

Amazing work, Jess.. All the Great apes? That's a big order. Gotta admit one of my favorite (secondary) characters was Virgil from Battle..

I don't know if I can manage them all at 1:1 scale but definitely in 1:6 scale or even 1:9 scale.

The Urko is for someone else. I am not interested to dress up as a male ape at all. I would feel strange.

LOL! Think about that....OK....maybe you already have!

You sculpture work is superb. You have an excellent eye for all the details of character.

I'll bet you can do a Cornelius a Ceasar and a Galen blind folded with your hands tied behind you back and still have all the right character details seperated!:thumbsup

Jumping into the thread with my own URKO costume. Parading this week at the Memoriabilia show, Birmingham NEC, UK. The helmet, mask and bib are all APEMANIA and the rest sourced and hand made. Boy, is that helmet heavy! Sweating like a hot thing even in chilly november. Still need to work on making my eye surrounds really black. Anyone know any Goths?

Martin we must get you set up properly as Urko. You look wonderful in costume, absolutely stunning--but I am sure you suffered for the art. If you notice, only your eyes and area immediate to that are exposed...plus you've got a heavy helmet and plenty of LAYERS. So brave of you! Bravo!!!!

Martin I'm going to have to chase you down and MAKE you wear my urko foam latex appliance!

You remember Urko liked to carry that helmet around, so you wouldn't necessarily have had to wear that helmet...not sure though which is easier...carrying that helmet around or wearing it for hours.

Foxy...goth here! you want to get yourself to Superdrug, buy some GOSH Extreme Art Liner in black. That stuff wont budge. Once applied it looks slightly shiny so dust on top some matt black eyeshadow to dull it down. A mineral eyeshadow works the best -
Black Eyeshadow - Buy Online • How To • Videos • Tips
or again from Superdrug BarryM's dazzle dust in Black,
Barry M Dazzle Dust 11 Black at Superdrug
or Sleek eye dust in what i think is called Drama
You will need some waterproof eyemake up remover to get the liner off aswell. The liner is waterproof and wont come off till you want it to.

Jessica - amazing sculpt you have created..so impressed!

I'd love to wear an URKO appliance, Jess, but don't think i'd ever have the skill to apply it. Would it work on a pull-over the head type, mounted on a spandex hood?

Yes, Martin. It is! I have to let the edges dry before I can add more layers of liquid latex to blend everything nicely.

are those finger prints i see on those teeth jess or did you put detail lines across them? You know i have to give you a rough time lol.

Shut up, Wes! No...those are detail lines and some of my fingerprints. It's going to be painted anyway, and you can barely see them once they are inside the mouth. :)

Not to threadjack from Jess, but ...
Martin, from your icon, looks like you've already got a pretty great Apes setup.
Is that an Apemania pullover, or did you make yourself, etc?

It's an ape mania economy mask. Nice, but not as nice as a custom fit pull over :love
