Ok so Im one of the last people on the list waiting for their product, and SDC had told our go between that I would get my Vader bodysuit "sometime after the holidays." which is approximately one year of waiting this past february. The moderator let me know what they said in december, and apparently SDC hasnt logged on since January. It was reccomended that I contact the authorities, but Im unsure of my next step. At this point its pretty obvious that Im not getting my suit, and the friendly emails have stopped, so I want compensation. I want my money back. In the past, when they stopped communication, as soon as someone posted a SDC ripped me off thread, they came out of hiding to address the issues. So, lets see what happens now.
If only I had known about CostumeJunkie back then, Id be much happier now. :(

Re: Shadow Dale Creations ripped me off, next step?

I got one of my 3 peice suits left if your still looking.

As far as Costumejunkie.. I whould not. I think its other guys here have past experience. If your looking for a economical solution then maybe this Phonix Prop guy can do you good costume for the price.

Either way. Its not cool to wait that long without any comunication. Hope it turns out well.

Well, I am also in the same boat as you. Ordered a helmet from them and have not heard anything back for a long, long time now.

Re: Shadow Dale Creations ripped me off, next step?

Contact you credit card company asap (assuming you paid by credit card).

Re: Shadow Dale Creations ripped me off, next step?

It seems like every couple of months this kind of thread pops up. Maybe a banning is in order.

Re: Shadow Dale Creations ripped me off, next step?

I do know there was a very serious illness that struck right around the begining of the year which took out Angel for a number of months.

Re: Shadow Dale Creations ripped me off, next step?

A very familiar thread...sadly.

What will be their excuse this time?

Re: Shadow Dale Creations ripped me off, next step?

What bugs me most about these people is the lack of honesty. I can appreciate what they are trying to do, but man up and admit that you are TOO SMALL to handle a large workload and limit yourselves to what you take in. It seems like too often these types of groups have great dreams of avarice and then realize they don't have the means to back up the promises. Then you get work suffering, with things like weeping resin, which I believe was a problem last time. Then you get the businesses not completing orders at all and leaving people in the lurch.

Re: Shadow Dale Creations ripped me off, next step?

I too think it is about time for a ban.

Every 3 months some one has to force an isssue that should have to be never forced.

They are just one of many groups. You would think the banning would be a lesson to others on what NOT to do, yet every few months, we have some other group doing the exact same things. I agree it should never have to be forced, yet it needs to be REINFORCED.

Re: Shadow Dale Creations ripped me off, next step?

Y'know I feel Bad, I know that Angel is seriously ill but I entered into a contract that wasn't fulfilled. General Mayhem has contacted me and said as soon as the funds can be allocated, I will get a refund. TMP, can you send me a PM? I have a few questions.

Okay, I promised myself I'd stay out of this round of the ever occuring "Shadow Dale Owes me" threads but the above comment infuriates me!
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MONEY?!?!
You pay and the money should not be touched until you start the project. Did they spend it without delivering product??? The funds should stay put just for this reason. The response SHOULD have been, " My apologies, but it looks as if due to an illness in the family, I will not be able to complete your project for the next 6 months. I'll be happy to refund your money today or if you prefer, I can work on it over the next several weeks when I find time and perhaps it will be finished sooner. Which ever you prefer. I apologize for any inconvienience."

:angry

Re: Shadow Dale Creations ripped me off, next step?

I don't know if this is possible, but maybe the Mods can set a Limit as to how many Projects a Seller can take on for customers at any given time. Starting with the Biggest Projects to smallest. Here's some examples:

Armor, Swords, Blasters and Guns- 5 Per Project

Models- 10 Per Project

Printed Shirts- 30, Per Project and so on.... Please keep in mind this is only an example. I'm sure most of you would agree to something along these lines because for 1. It will keep the project in check and 2. It won't overburden the Seller.

There should also be something of a Gold Member's Club. This would be for Seller's who've been here for quite some time and have earned the respect of the Members here.

I didn't mean to ramble on, but it seems that every other month this happens. Someone buys something and they never get the item in question, and then these threads pop up. Please feel free to chime in. C

Re: Shadow Dale Creations ripped me off, next step?

unfortunately this ALWAYS seems to be the case. Whether its Katarra, Joe K., Shadowdale, Wolfmorgan etc the story is ALWAYS the same. Take on too much and INSTANT serious illness. It never fails and Ive come to understand that anyone who offers fannish costumes has an underdeveloped immune system and is 11 times liklier to fall prey to serious illness (which you will notice often spreads to their computers which prevents them from responding to emails and provide updates).
My conclusion? Guns dont kill people, making costumes kills people.
Seriously..the pattern is unmistakable.
Costumer starts out by offering a good quality product at a good price
Customers say great things about experience with costumer
Customers send Costumers lots of money for pretty things
Costumer falls behind
Customers complain
Mystery Illness revealed to be the cause. Both costumer and computer have developed reply debilitating diseases.

Peter, the illness struck at the beginning of 2007!! At least that was the constant excuses I got from them. I ended up getting my order, and it was not good at all. I hope you can file legal suit, and that you can recoup some of your money..... I was promised that they would repair my uniform becuase they considered it "unfinished" (yet they sent it anyways) and have not heard a word back from them since.

At the very least they should have made a post saying what was happening.... OR they could shut down their friggin website.... but I'm guessing they are still raking in the dough and love the "free" money. Of course when they get hit by some lawsuits (they are located in NY) they may change their tune....

As I have said before (and been accused of being an ass), if they are too sick to do their job they need to get a different job. Just as a clarification, if you take money from someone and don't deliver the goods promised it is called theft... and that is very illegal....

That is the funniest s**t I've read today. It does give the other, REPUTABLE, crafters here a bad image to newbies. They start thinking that everyone operates like that.
