Under the Skin is a 2013 science fiction thriller film directed by Jonathan Glazer and starring Scarlett Johansson. It is adapted from Michel Faber's 2000 novel of the same name, about an alien sent to Earth by a rich corporation to prey on unwary hitchhikers. The screenplay was written by Glazer and Walter Campbell.

It's been a long time since a movie trailer creeped me out. This one did.

I know most of what's happening won't make sense. But I heard Scarlett actually picked up strangers and another review said something about nekkidness...

I watched Beyond the Black Rainbow, so I'm game.

Both trailers are the same movie aren't they? The one I linked is a lot longer though.
That's really, really weird. When I posted earlier - the link you posted in the first post was to a documentary about Lyme disease.

Anyone see this yet?

A beautiful film on so many different levels. Totally refreshing. A good conversation starter as well. I felt there were a few interesting ways to breakdown this film. From one perspective you could see it as the arc of a developing woman: She starts off fresh in the world and able to grab her willing partners without effort. She uses there libidos against them and lures them. She then moves to the sympathetic phase were she attempts to date a "nice guy". When this doesn't work out, she feels sorry for him and releases him from the predatory relationship. She then tries to find a nice guy and ends up realizing she just can't compute with them. Finally, she gives in to her natural state of being and accepts that she can't relate to normal human relationships. She becomes the prey in the end.

On an alien level it made so much sense. She doesn't understand human emotions until the bitter end. She is oblivious to the men in one scene who are clearly trying to commit a violent act on her. Only until she meets someone who is an outcast from society does she understand that humans operate differently.

I enjoyed the film, even with its long scenes. Beautifully shot, with an excellent soundtrack.
