I would love to be able to read that article. I wish there was a higher res or a transcription of it.

This is one I made for my Indy Journal, they were friends and I thought he would have it.

Best,

OK, U3 is out and Im starting on the research for the journal. (Anyone want to join in?)

The hardest parts are going to be the clippings in the journal....the text is very hard to read.

Im trying to track down a transcript or a higher res version of the T.E. Lawrence newspaper. So far the only one ive seen is the one posted in this thread earlier which is kind of burry.

I tried to clean it up in Photoshop, and this is what I got:

COL. LAWRENCE,
HERO OF ARABIA,
DIES OF INJURY

Was in Coma 1(XX) Hours
After Motorcycle
Collision.

SIMPLE RITES SET

All England Mourns Quiet
Soldier Who Beat
Turks in War.

Anything beyond that is impossible for me to make out.

Good work. Im looking at a screencap I took as well (Not a very good one either...Need to go back and take another pick in better lighting). It looks like the newspaper is not a copy of the Philedelphia Record, but rather an altered version of the newspaper. the main caption title seem to be the same but other things are different.

As for the text of the article, I seem to have found it.
Like the previous clippings from Uncharted 2, it seems Naughty Dog used existing text found on the internet to create a faux article.

The article is actually posted on Strategist of the Desert Dies in Military Hospital | From the Guardian | The Guardian

It reads -

"We regret to announce the death of
Mr. T. E. Shaw ("Lawrence of
Arabia"), which occurred shortly
after eight o'clock yesterday morning
in Wool Military Hospital, Bovington
Camp, Dorset. Mr. Shaw, who
until recently was an aircraftman in
the Royal Air Force, was injured in a
motor-cycling accident on Monday
night and did not recover conscious-
ness.

Tragic as it is that such a remark-
able career should have been ended
by a simple road accident, an official
statement issued yesterday shows
that if his fight for life had succeeded
it would still have been a tragedy, for
Mr. Shaw's brain was irreparably
damaged.

Mr. Shaw was 46 years of age.

After a post-mortem examination
by Mr. H.W.B. Cairns, the London
specialist, the following statement
was issued: -

"The post-mortem examination
conducted by Mr. Cairns showed such
severe lacerations and damage to the
brain that in the event of his recovery
he would have only regained partial
use of his speech and eyesight. In
view of the immense activity and
energy of Mr. Shaw it is felt that
this may be some consolation to those
who had entertained anxious hopes of
his recovery."

Another statement issued was:
"The funeral of Mr. T. E. Shaw,
formerly Colonel Lawrence, will take
place at Moreton Church, Dorset, at
2.30pm on Tuesday. The service will
be a simple one and no mourning and
no flowers are requested. Apart from
those specially invited the service
will be confined to his particular
friends and those who were associated
with him in Arabia."

The right half of the article was taken from this website (The name "Shaw" was replaced with Lawrence in the U3 Journal, along with a few edited words)-
http://books.google.com/books?id=3C...&resnum=2&ved=0CCEQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q&f=false

It reads -

"A vanished motorist was seen at the spot where Mr. Lawrence
crashed into the two boy cyclists is being sought.

"The ????? car was seen travelling towards Mr. Lawrence who was just
about to pass the cyclists on his motorcycle. He swerved to avoid the car,
and wrenched his machine into the banking to minimize the impact with the
cyclists."

Before I start recreating this in Illustrator, I need to get the journal on hand to scale it correctly to the page size (I suppose I could use my old journal since it seams to be the the same size as this one)

Wow darth, how do you find these things? I tried searching for the museum voucher but didn't have any luck finding a real one.
