I have one of the swords with the engraving. I really like it, but it is heavy around 4.2 lbs. All the swords I have seen are not 100% screen accurate, even the one I have. Violet's sword is straight across at the end. All the swords I have seen are at an angle. I have several screen caps showing this that I can post later once I get home. I even sent the pics to a sword maker who makes the sword by "hand" and asked him to make mine straight like the movie. I figured if it took 8 days like he said in his ad to make the sword, than it would be no problem for a straight end. I knew this whole hand made thing was BS but I decided to try anyway. Even though I sent the screen caps showing this, he still said that his sword was accurate and my pics were wrong. The BS kept rolling out. Some of the ads will show the sword at an angle so you can not tell if the end is straight or not. If anyone has a found a straight sword, let me know. I plan on using a cutting wheel to chop my end off to make is accurate.
Now for the second part. You can not depend on the screen caps to show you if the symbols are engraved or not. Swords used for the fight scenes were made out of resin and others were foam with a metal center. That is how they do those great moves. I believe that the foam swords did not have the engravings but were just printed on. The replica swords are for show so do not plan on trying to duplicating any moves. These suckers are heavy. 4 lbs does not sound like much but it is. I chose to go with the engraved symbols and plan to weather them to age the sword. More when I get home.
