Hey guys.....
I have another project on the go at the minute for me and my fiancee.... we are doing Cyclops and Jean Grey from the Ultimate X-Men series, but I have drummed up enough interest to get a full Ultimates group goin.... so far we have us two, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Beast, Wolverine and then we have other people wanting to join in as other Ultimate characters so it gonna be a big group at LFCC in July :) ... so anyways onto the build... so far I have only really started on the Cyclops visor.....
I couldn't find an Ultimates version of his visor anywhere so a friend of mine made a 3D model from some reference pics... here's a couple of examples of the look I am aiming for

and after endless hours putting together a pep model to find it too small I then had to go resize and build the front part till I got it right.... so here it is up to now before I get to resin coating it.... having a couple of issues getting it to stay on though so hopefully when it is solid it will keep shape and stay where it should :)

Very nice looking visor. If it still doesnt want to stay on after you resin it, you could glue a pair of sun glass frames so it will sit on your nose and ears.

Yea that was a thought I had, will defo give it a try before havin to resize and start again lol will try anythinbefore doin that!!!! Haha

Wasn't happy with my first version of the visor so downscaled it a little and started again.... it fits a little better now but still not enough to stay on perfect so once I get some resin on it hopefully it will stay more to my head and I will put some foam inside the ear caps to keep it raised on my ears, and if that don't work then I'm gonna have to add a thin strap :(

Ordered a navy zentai suit from china too (believe it or not we can't get navy zentai in England for some strange reason) so should have that in a week or two and can start modifying it by cutting off the sleeves and head....
I am also planning on doing the black leather jacket they wear

OK so I got 3 coats of resin on the visor today and added some foam strips into the top of the earcaps and the visor is now resting nicely without any aid of straps.... tomoz I will get a thin layer of filler on it and get it nice and smooth before hitting it with the dremmel for detailing :)

I will have to check with my mate for you, he made it when I said I wntd to do Ultimate version.... he made himself a X1 movie visor as there seemed to be no pep files available for it, then when I mentioned this he kindly went ahead and modified that model into the Ultimate style for me.... I'm pretty sure he won't mind but always best to check first :)

ok so got some filler on visor this afternoon and sanded it out abit, not sanded the earcaps yet, but it's got a much smoother curved shape now, pleased with the progress so far..... once ears have been sanded I will be using 'stopper' to fill in the imperfections and give it a wet n dry sanding which gives it a lovely smooth finish, then I can dremmel in the details and get it painted up :D

Awesome work on the visor!

Thank you :) ... glad you like ...

Rob.... I have a zentai suit on it's way from China (you can't get navy zentai suits in the UK for some strange reason) so when that arrives I will be cutting the mask of it and the sleeves, getting them sewn up to keep it from tearing, then gotta make the belt, sort out pouches (will need to paint them), yellow wellies modified with foam for the boots, knee pads, gloves and leather jacket which I will need to add padding details to in the shoulders and elbows and add the (X) logo to the sleeves and collar :)

did abit more on the visor today, it's had a coat of stopper and sanding, but there was still blemishes that needed sorting so I put a filler primer spray on it (which happens to be yellow so gives and idea of how it will look finished :) ) and then some stopper to fill the imperfections.... I couldn't resist colouring some paper in red and adding it for a test fit lol....

Dude that is badass!

What you gonna use for the actual visor? Assuming you want not to be able see your eyes through it...

cheers mate, I am lookin at various red plastics, and hopefully be riggin it to light up too all being well :)

tell me about it dude, I sometimes get bored with one if I don't have a real connection to the character .... like Freeze, I'm not a big DC fan so that is on/off all the time, more off at the minute as I have these two to do for me and my fiancee and I have a pretty epic Marvel villain planned for October ;)
Glad you like the visor though, I'm quite pleased how it's turning out :)

thanks guys, glad you like it, hopefully have some detailing done tomoz so will snap some pics if I do.... can't wait for the suit to turn up so I can get to modifyin that :) just ordered my leather jacket today too :)
