Hi everyone, im trying to build an E11 on a budget (£6:50 gbp so far) and i am really stuck on the barrel grips i have found a set of rubber ones for around £15 but as this is a "best for least cash" project i was wondering if anyone had any ideas or knows of a good cheap replacement ?, i dont care about accuracy (obviously as its mostly made from parts ive found or had lying around) but would prefer t-section rather than the rotj route of channel type stuff. hopefully there will be a pic or two of the project so far (in first coat of primer, with my scope made from bits of a scope that was on an old telescope, the small scope thats used for finding the right position ) here too.
Thanks in advance
Rob

HI,good build,i've made a few myself, and i found some t-track,type stuff in my local hardware shop,i think it's for window's,it comes in a 2 meter length in either black or grey.Really just look around, mine was found near the aluminium section

Hello g05ty! Welcome to the forum!
I have seen dozens of ways to build T-tracks from scratch, from all sorts of things. You can find that there are already lots of threads about them on the forum, both in the "props" forum and archived threads.

My advice is to keep your eyes and your mind open for something inexpensive made of plastic that could be cut into T-tracks.
If you have sheets of HiPS (or other plastic), then you could cut strips from it (I suggest the "score and snap" method) and glue them together.

The T-tracks on the original blasters and lightsabers were plastic tracks for mounting sliding drawers in cabinets. It was most likely really inexpensive and from an ordinary hardware store in England, perhaps across the street from where the props were built.
Serveral RPFers have found plastic tracks almost like them, but not the real thing. If you can find the real stuff, with the correct profile, then you could earn money and gratitude from many members. ;)

Thanks to everyone for the suggetions as for the real grip materials i am looking.... i am definately looking and as i live not far from shepperton im allways looking a little more when im over that way lol.

Have seen a few people using the plastic track used for glass/wooden sliding doors, it looks like a letter E if viewed end on but if you cut the 2 end pieces off it makes a T if you see what i mean :confused You can get it in Wickes ,B&Q etc in long lengths and as its molded its less likely to break off .

UPDATE: had to alter the stock mount after i realised how "off" the grip was fitted (about an inch too far forwards, but it was comfy & balanced this way) but i finally got around to making the stock, which i even managed to get folding, also fitted the scope mount about 5 mins ago, so.... moving along now and hopefully soon finished.

please ignore the nice pink/red background its a cover on the sofa to stop the dog getting it dirty when shes had one of her mudbaths aka a walk lol

Another update on the build... its in one piece, big thanks again to tango'd fett for the e-track idea i think it worked great as t-track after a bit of cutting and sanding.
Some painting and finish the stand ( and fit lights into it) and im happy with my first blaster on a budget (£12 gpb total)
