TWC Sonic Metal Handle

Might you know where I can find one.
Also I'm looking for a Tardis Key from the new series. I know there is one model out there that is identical however I'm not sure which one.

There's a while thread on here about the key. Just search for TARDIS key.

As for metal bodies I don't know anyone that makes them. You either have to buy a full sonic or make your own.

Machining the body does not seem particularly difficult, its the slider that I am more concerned with.

Quite frankly, unless you're a machinist, getting that metal body is going to cost as much or more than the TWC sonic itself.

For what they are the TWC sonics are amazing. Well priced, look good, and have some functionality. However for the cost of buying one and then getting someone to machine you a new body for it you might as well buy one of the prop sonics available on the market.

You could always opt for a 3D print such as this. Tennant Body by ddstokes on Shapeways $45.12 in steel. There would be a lot of sanding to do to make it smooth, but in reality it is going to be crackle painted anyway so it would not need to be perfectly smooth. The slider groove goes down further than TWC's sonic does and it has the grub screw holes in the bottom ends.

This model was done by Anakin Starkiller...he may be able to adjust it to accomodate TWC sonic parts.

The sonic bodies I have drawn up most likely wouldn't fit a wand company sonic.

Also, I do not own a wand company sonic, so I can't make parts to fit it. If someone wanted to send me the wand company sonic plastic body, I could easily draw up a replacement part and put it on shape ways. But without having one for reference on hand. I would discourage people from ordering parts from my site and expecting them to fit

I have one as well. I have an entire one I took apart because I dropped it. I can send it too you if you would be able make a couple and paint the. For me?

I feel that TWC props would be so much better, more sturdy, and have obviously more weight to them if the body were metal. I have two that I am looking to upgrade with a metal body and would pay as much as the price of the sonic itself if not a little more. Reason being as great as these are, they could be better and a metal body would make it the best prop on the market for the price. It's worth it to me. I want one to look like the grey crackle version that DT used in most of seasons 2-4 as well as a heritage gold version to match the MFX one used in the 50th.

It's worth noting that the metal handle is significantly lighter than you'd image. So much so that the Wand Company remote is only 5 grams lighter than David Tennant's sonic they used for reference to make the remote. Just take about 4 paperclips, or a single Nickel in your hand if you want to feel what 5 grams feels like.

Also, the remote would have been significantly more expensive if they went with a metal handle.

I'd still love to see people play around with this idea though. I think it could be cool to try to copy the crackle from the Wand Company Sonic and metal etch a metal handle with a matching pattern to see if it might create a close, but more durable look than the standard crackle paints.

Well, if you sent the body to me, I would be willing to draw up bodies in a cad files and then upload it to shapeways.com
After that, it would be up to you to order the body in stainless or brass and paint them up yourself.
I wouldn't be making anything off of this, just doing a favor for the rpf community for people who want metal bodies for their sonic. If you're interested, pm me.

Not sure if you saw my thread about this, but I engineered a replace my button for the wand company sonic that simulated the tax switch slider of the Eccleston prop. This coupled with the metal handle will make a pretty sweet and easy conversion for anyone who's interested
