thanks! i was just curious if the shaping parts were able to come out or not, but if all I need to do is take out the inner bits, better , i was thinking of maybe soaking the inside of the helm, when i was done, with some hot water to wash out the shaped cardboard, or would that be ill advised?

I also want to scratch build a stormtrooper blaster, which would be a cake walk, as all the tutorials and templates are readily available. I then have to offset that against the fact that my wife thinks it would be really cool to have a display of star wars helmets!!! OMG! Did she REALLY say that!!!??? :lol

hmmm...a timeline of trooper helmets would be cool

I think that would be TOTALLY I'll advised with ANY helmet : eek

Hot water will at best, warp it, and at worst, destroy all the papier mâché and shaping card and possibly soften the bondo, too..

I agree.....I am currently working on a biker scout helm. When I say working on it, I mean working out the logistics of a trash scratch build. What I can use and what I will need. When I have worked it out I will start a new thread to post the progress, although I think I will not set a deadline this time! :$

yes i owe you one - i have a tk armour if you need any dimensions? (just an FX kit though - until i upgrade...)
Started a Fett helmet with inspiration from this and other builds on here - also that its relatively simple (in comparison) but shelved at the moment whilst I am building a few blasters (all star wars stuff), they are a mix of found parts, toys, other kits and one off bits that i hope to cast as kits or complete pieces for me and a few others (no intention of full time casting - don't have time or space!) I have photos of pretty much everything i have done so will post some bits on here nearer completion of projects.
I cant wait to see your next piece of work.
