Tusky bio sculpt

Nice job so far mate, as for the tusks, well i think they are a bit of a gimmick but im yet to see the film so il wait till thursday to decide

Well like I said, when it's done I will be demolding as carefully as possible and slicing off the tusks and refinishing that area. And remolding. Will be a nice semi-custom bio then.

If I understand this right, you will be basically casting the bio without the tusks and making them as an "add on if wanted" piece or are you are you not going to add them at all? Just a bit confused on where you're going with it.

This looks great!! After seeing the movie, i really like the look of the tusks on the bio. I think it gives the character more of an individual feel and it looks really cool on top of that!!

The tusks will not be part of the main sculpt at all. I will make a separate mold for them, and they will be added to the bio after casting. What I'm actually talking about there is making 2 molds of the bio. The first mold will have the bases to fit the tusks to the bio. Then, if removing the mold doesn't do too much damage to the sculpt, I will remove the bases (and therefore any possibility of adding tusks) and remold it. So we get the same bio without tusks, and maybe a little more traditional looking.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up for me.

Mighta guessed you'd be in for the first one Bryan.

Tonights plan is to tidy up the dome a little, along with a couple other spots, then on to smoothing.

i got to tell ya man the bio is on point....and i like the idea that you might have two bios.1 with the tusks ....
and 1 without the tusks either way with or without the tusks it will look freakin awsome...
im gonna start saving $$$$ cause its on my list among other bios that u make

Here's another update...adding the texture now. This was about 75 minutes of tapping away to create the texture. I figure probably about the same tomorrow. :D

Then I'll do the damage, and whatever finishing touches I feel it needs. Probably be molded by next weekend.

Thanks for the update. I don't know why they put those markings on the mouth, but oh well. Great job reproducing this :D

I just wish you spend more attention to the smoothness of those edges... I love your gort, but it could've been a clearer cut if you know what I mean :D

And the eyes are more evil in the reference: less arc on the upper side, more weighted arc on the lower half of it.

Hey, looks cool, but one quick observation: in the ref pic, it looks like the top of the snout is closer to the eyes?

As far as the edges go, you'd be amazed at how tough it is to whack some clay with a ball bearing and not have it deform. I think this comes under finishing touches. I'm aware of the eyes, just wanted to lay some texture down to see how it looked.

As far as the snout goes...I'm really not sure. It might need a slightly more defined line, but the positioning looks good to me

Well here we go. I see a couple of things I will probably touch up on it tonight before molding tomorrow, but mostly this is done. If anyone sees any huge error that I've made please feel free to mention it...or really really tiny ones that won't take much fixing. Anything in the middle can go hang.

I should probably mention the cut outs in the cheeks...in the reference pic from the movie, they almost look like straight cut outs, and you can see the skin through them, but it's hard to be sure, so I tried to put a skin like texture in there, and people can do what they want...leave it, or cut them out.
