Turning up to a Q&A Movie Screening in costume yes or no?

If you had the opportunity to attend an exclusive Q&A movie screening with the makers of the film would you consider turning up in your replica costume or would it be a bit of a faux pas?

50 views and not one response. With apathy like this I'm begining to wonder if all the members of this board are from London :lol

Depends on the costume. If the mask or helmet can be taken off I would, if it were make-up I wouldn't. As long as it isn't too distracting or outrageous.

Nope, I would not do it. Anything made will fail when put up next to the masters work.

Not necessarily.

It depends on the Q&A, i´d say, if it´s a more professional one, i.e. at a movie school or soemthing else, then I personally might be a bit hesitant, but if its a convention event, then of course full regalia are a must ;)

I didn't respond upon viewing because I'm split on this issue, not because I'm from London lol

In the end I think it really depends on who's at the screening. If you think they'll appreciate it, go ahead. If it's more of a professional setting, hold off.

Maybe bring the costume, scope it out, then put it on?

I wanted to ask Ryan Reynolds questions at SDCC in a Flash costume, but we changed plans at the last minute. I think it'd be an honor for the makers of a film to have someone show up in costume! But the note about professional vs informal is worth noting.

I live in Los Angeles where, you might imagine, we have movie screenings with cast and/or crew Q&As on a fairly regular basis at some movie theatres. The last two I attended were Back To The Future, and Ghostbusters. At both screenings, there were a handful of costumed fans in attendance. At the Ghostbusters screening, they even invited all of the costumed fans up to the stage for a picture with the guests.

Of course, Los Angeles is not London. I don't know what the local customs are. I did go to one of the Harry Potter movies on opening day in London, and there were a lot of costumed fans. Probably as many as you'd see here, if not more. So I would venture a guess that costumed fans at a Q&A screening would be acceptable on a similar level.

And if it's at a fan convention, then convention customs apply.
On the other hand, if it's at a trade show or professional convention, then cosplay is probably discouraged as unprofessional.

I'd take it along, just in case.
If you get the chance to speak with someone, mention it and they seem interested, then you won't have too far to go get it.
