Turning a Disguise Hammer into Mjolnir from Thor: The Dark World

What did you need to do to fit the end-cap on the handle?

Not too much. The handle is already hollow so you just need to dremel off the end cap and trim it to the edges. To attach the leather strap you dremel out a slot on each side (there is even a design pattern to follow molded in the end cap). Pretty easy and done in about 10 minutes!

Loving all these Mjolnirs popping up :)

Me to! It is such an iconic prop but lots of variation and detail to keep it interesting.

sweet!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what I thought! Thanks!

Great hammer. I especially love the leather work and stitching. Nice work.

I know the screen used one was 3D printed with no seams but this seemed more 'real'. Thanks!

Its hard to find that end cap you got, here in canada ,anyone else know where i can get one except toy r' us US.

Toys 'r' Us won't ship to Canada!

Does tru Canada carry them? If not maybe I could pick some up and send the whole kit or just the pommel to save on shipping. Send me a pm if you cannot get them.

Everyone should have a Mjolnir!

I have pm'ed you!

Hey, trying to msg you on my tablet, but no-go. Just wanted to let you know the pommels arrived ystrdy, they're great! Thanks again so much for doing that:)

Really having trouble finding that one or one like it in the UK. Already have my disguise hammer but I'm just having no luck with the end cap :(
Anyone find one like that on ebay or anything that would ship to the UK?

As a TRU employee I'd like to pass on a bit of help here and let you all know that the toy used for the pommel is named "Thor movie full dress up" on the web site. However if you go to the TRU web site and put 706355 in the search bar it will take you straight to that item and from there you can figure out your shipping possibilities.

BTW Great build!

I really like this thread. I plan on replicating this for my next project. I have had the disguise hammer for quite a while now, and from across the room sitting on a table it looks great! But from any closer than 10' away it looks like the very cheap costume prop that it is. I will make one change and do the avengers style hammer since I believe it will be somewhat easier to craft the end of that handle than finding the toys 'r' us handle that you disassembled and used. But I really like your end product and I think your handle sets it apart from many of the hammer builds I have been able to find. Thank you for all the great ideas!

What did you use to cast the "Metal" rings from. I see your original was carved PVC. It looks like you then made a master mold out of clay or something and then cast the 10 rings. What did you use for materials? could you elaborate more?
