Turbo sausage - IRON MAN MK 7 (WIP)

Hi all,

I just wanted to share the progress of my IRON MAN MK7 helmet so far. It did start out as a MK6 using pep files from Sharkhead/Sharkmark, but halfway through I decided that I wanted to do a MK7 suit. As you will see from the pictures I then used Darkside501st's files to add the MK7 chin and finish it off. I'll add more details at a later date, for now here are some pics.

Hi guys, as you can see I have now pepped the neck (Omarbou's), but I'm not sure how to go about fibre glassing it, I think it would be easier to make it one piece that splits in half and re-joins with magnets but I'm not sure if that would be too uncomfortable to wear? has anybody managed to join the separate layers together in a way that they still have some movement?

I know a lot of people go with foam for the neck so I may resort to that eventually but at the moment I think I can get a better look with pep so want to try and make it work.

Thanks, TS

Made some progress on the ears recently.

ear1.JPG
pepped ears covered inside and out in resin, then used as a template to cut out some fibreglass cloth

More resin added

Added filler and sanded ready for the first coat of primer. :) Quite happy with how they turned out but I'm starting to get real jealous of the 3D printed parts people are producing!

Thanks Omarbou, it's nice to get some positive feedback after spending so long sanding these parts down. I'll probably be adding filler to your neck next and hopefully that will turn out well, still haven't quite decided wether I'm going to split it into three parts, I may just take the easy option and keep it one piece. I'll update when I've made some progress

Cheers TS

How's it going? I had to amend the ear pieces to make mine fit

I havn't done much recently, think I burnt out working on the helmet for so long. Got distracted playing gta5 but now I'm back on the build. Started omarbous chest and it's given me new motivation.

I haven't attached the ears yet, I guess yours had to be widened? My helmets slightly on the large side do hopefully won't have that problem

I ended up hacking the ears off, I'm not going for overly movie accurate so I plan to not have them set in so much

Hey just a quick update, got back into the build lately and made some progress. Built the chest only to find out that it's too small!, ah well it was good practice:wacko.

Also attached the rear helmet piece with magnets, glued on the ears and started work on the faceplate hinges.. :D

Anything new? mine took a back seat when the winter came so back on now
Hey syph013,

Mine took a back seat too, I have bought some servos and a controller but I've been side tracked with other things over the last few months. I do still pick it up now and then and really want to finish it, just not enough days in the week right now.
