Hi,

Does anyone know if tssy2005 (based on ebay) is still making the Tennant long brown suede coat. I can't seem to find any link on ebay for her? Does anyone have an up to date contact for this seller please? It would be appreciated!

Thanks.

I just received mine in the mail today. No pictures yet but I'll see about uploading some in the near future.

First of all, opinions on the seller. I have to say that I think I received better customer service from China than I get from a lot of places here in the states. When I contacted her, I got a response within a few hours. She was very knowledgeable, easy to communicate with and answered all my questions politely. This was a huge plus for me.

As far as the coat goes I have heard reports about missing inside pockets, missing back flap buttons, wrong liners and the buttons being the wrong color. While I am not 100% on all the screen accurate details I can say that what you see pictured in the auction is what you are going to get. Some people have to have fabric taken from the same lot as David Tennant's coat to be happy. This is not that coat but it looks the part and is recognizable to any Doctor Who fan. It is also well constructed and is functional as an actual coat. I have the wool version but I don't think the suede would disappoint either.

The major selling point for me was the fact that it was custom tailored and that it didn't cost me an arm and a leg to have done. I am a shorter build and the problem I have always had with long coats is that they tend to run too close to the ground. They stayed true to the measurements I gave them and it fits me perfectly.

Hope this helps.

Update: I am going to save photos until I get the faux suede version so I can do a review of them both side by side. However, I wore the wool version for the first time yesterday to work and received a lot of compliments. The Dr. Who fans immediately recognized it, and those who had never seen the show loved the style. For what I expected out of this coat, it was worth every penny I spent.

Photos are coming soon- just got the other coat in last night.

The best way I can describe the faux suede version of this coat in terms of weight and thickness is a lab coat with a lining. I haven't tried it out in the wind yet, but I can imagine that it would flow quite well in the breeze much like I see in the show.

This coat again came with the blue lining, the orange trim on the inside pockets, angled outer pocket flaps, 4 darts in the back, "marbled" dark brown/tan buttons and most importantly was tailored well. The material seems to have the same texture to it as close ups I've seen of the screen used fabric but as I have never held a screen used Tennant coat I cannot say 100% for sure.

So, the question comes down to faux suede or wool. We all know in terms of screen accuracy the faux suede is the material to use. However, if you intend to wear this coat on a daily basis, the faux suede is a light coat more suited for fall and early winter wear. If you intend to wear this out in freezing temperatures, the wool has considerably more weight to it and is a warmer coat to wear. Both versions get compliments as they are well made articles of clothing and even the wool version is still very much recognizable as a Dr. Who coat by fans.

I will try to have pictures up in a few days.

Would be interested to know how the colour is, and how it comes out in the photos.
Not expecting it to be totally screen accurate, but I've heard the proper abbyshot coats are a bit darker than Tennant's actual coat appears on camera.

I recently got some pictures directly from tssy2005. 2.jpg1.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg

Nice to see better photos. I have the Abbyshot and the magnolia suit, and the AS is just too dark and wrong in the collar for me to use for the costume. I already don't look like Tennant, but the coat was throwing it off. I wanted to get another coat that was faux suede, not too bad on the accuracy, and not cost me over $400.... so I ordered the tssy coat.

As soon as I actually have it I will upload pics, so you guys can see it in person. I really want to see it on a cosplayer, and I haven't seen any online that I can find. Here is a shot of the AbbyShot jacket.... (forgive the shoes, I hadn't gotten the unbleached chucks at that point).
