Right now i am trying to figgure out how to make a movie replica of captain America shield. I am on a budget, but i would rather do a spun aluminum shield then a steel sled. So i have some questions for people who have made them or are in the shoes i am. Like whats the lowest i could have a spun shield. Or whats the cost of leather and the metal for the brackets if i made them. i do have some good resource at my disposal. such as my grandpa owning a laser companies to have things cut. now i have seen a lot of other threads from some awesome people like The Cap, Chris Fields, and last but not least Valor. please put your input.

The spun shield is really your most fixed, and highest cost – about $250 on the low end. The rest can be sourced economically if you're ready to do the work. Leather will cost you $60 from Tandy, or you can hit Goodwill for some old leather belts. The star can be bought from me for $45. Or you can make your own from $10 of sheet aluminum. The brackets can also be made from scrap aluminum. If you have a waterjet cutter in town you could ask if you could have some scraps. Paint and paint materials might run $30-40.

Good luck.

The more you are willing to make yourself, the cheaper it can be. Good luck.

The spun blank will cost you about $250 shipped. The rest is up to you and your resourcefulness.

thank you valor and Kevin for the comments i didn't realize the expense of a spun shield. the rest is no problem for me to do i have done leather projects before and my friend owns a laser cutter to cut the brackets and star. also i would like to ask is it worth going the extra mile for the spun shield then the sled shield
