Trying to ID some Doctor Who Items

Hi there peeps, been trawling around trying to ID a couple of items used in Doctor Who but drawn a blank so thought I'd try my luck here. First one is the gloves that were part of the spacesuits used in Season 4 Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead - they're white leather and suede gloves with small padded parts on the knuckles - the photos are from the exhibition in Cardiff and they can be seen in the episode and in some stills I have.

The other one is the handle/pistol grip from the Judoon gun - looks like a garden sparyer/ spray gun / hand tool of some sort but despite lots of searching have drawn another blank. Maybe someone out there has some info.

The gloves looks sort of like ski gloves to me, they're about the only kind of gloves that I can can think of that would come in white, have zipper on it, and be of that thickness. The other possibility might be a fencing glove but the cuff looks too short and it seems a little thick overall too.

As for the gun, I think you might be on to something in it being a found item. To me it looks sort of like the spray gun for a garden hose or part of a bug sprayer that you attach to a hose, it also looks like it could be part of a paint gun/sprayer.

The Judoon gun grip is a light gun pistol grip. I posted about it elsewhere, will have to try and find it, I've forgotten which one it is.

I discovered this after building my Judoon blaster. Very annoying

I think These may be the gloves
Burton R.P.M. LEATHER GLOVE Bright White UK Snowboard, Kite and Ski Shop. Burton Snowboards, Salomon, K2 Skis, Bonfire Jackets, 32 boots, Rome, RED helmets

They may be an older version but to me it looks like the letters on the knuckles were just painted over

It's certainly close but I don't think it's it. I did a quick overlay in Photshop and sizing the light pistol down to the same size as the blaster using the back grip as a guide the light pistol becomes much smaller than the prop and the thumb button is also out of place with the prop. But it is possible that they used a similar pistol, possibly an older model because it's definitely close.

Interesting. There were similar discussions concerning River's Guns in Time of Angels and Pandorica Opens, where it seems that the BBC 'borrow' designs from existing items without actually physically using the base item to make the prop.

Have to say a sincere big thankyou to you guys that have replied. That madcatz lightgun is the nearest thing I've seen to it and well happy to know what those gloves are :thumbsup

Interesting point re the light gun, I wonder as Birdie said whether they've borrowed the design and made some - this might be peeing in the wind but perhaps if they made a master based on a real life item such as that light gun, then molded and cast extra ones from it , they're not 'directly' reproducing an item :confused

Umm.. I ran the same check as Riceball in Illustrator, and found the lightgun to be almost a perfect match, slight discepances that could be put down to different angles of the 2 pictures.

IMHO, the lightgun is the base of the Judoon blaster.

Its one of those guns you only see fleeting glimpses of in Doctor Who, but I always liked the designs for the Judoon stuff.

Many apologies for digging up a thread that's about 8 months old, but I've just been in town to pick up some items and as I walked passed a shop that sold second hand computers and gaming equipment, I saw the exact gun that was used for the Judoon blaster prop. It's similar to the blue version illustrated above, but in using the gun I saw, you'd use the whole piece, rather than just the handle and with very little modification required.

Is this still of interest to anyone here or should we just consign the topic to the bin of history? If you are interested, just shout and next time I'm in the town, I'll go and take pictures for you. With luck it'll still be there.

I'd LOVE to get a proper ID on this blaster! I'm pulling together the full Judoon outfit in a month and any shortcuts on the weaponry would help.

I think I may have figured it out.... Holluba gave me a bit of a lead, and I *think* the gun is the Sega Dream Blaster for the Dreamcast.
