TRON: Uprising Series Discussion

I agree with that last part. Production value almost pushes it into the feature film category as far as quality. I was kind of bummed we never got to see Flynn fighting, because they briefly described it in Legacy. :)

I'm not sure if anyone noticed but it's really odd that Nathan Corddry who is the voice of Zed on Tron - Uprising is added to the list of actors for the new upcoming Tron sequel, playing Zed as in Uprising; unconfirmed though, but still. What could this possibly mean if it will be confirmed? A return of the Uprising?

Just watched the first episode on Netflix last night. Nice to see it in HD, which I didn't do the first time.

My DVR schedule also said when I checked it last that Disney XD will be replaying the series again soon.

If they intend to add some of the Uprising characters to the next Tron movie I know who they should cast if they want to add Pavel, they should cast the guy who plays Sarah's brother on Orphan Black (Jordan Gavaris), he's practically the spitting image of Pavel. As and added benefit the guy is a pretty good actor and is about the right age to play Pavel too.

I didn't even know it was out. It has its moments. Making me want to get the soundtrack out again.

Honestly, I think with the confusion with the it's cancelled/it's not cancelled/they never officially said it's cancelled I think it actually IS cancelled, we're all just in denial that it is. :(

I hope I'm wrong, however...

Maybe a more realistic way to think about it is "It hasn't been renewed."

Canceled? Not canceled? Doesn't really matter: it hasn't been renewed. It might later, possibly, maybe, kinda, sorta....but not yet.

Question, since I never watched the show but am curious: did it end on a cliffhanger? If not, I'll fire it up on Netflix. If so, I'm not gonna bother.

As big a company as Disney is you would think there would be an answer to what's happening with this show. Still no Blu-ray news either.

This is like that Quorra poster image I've been looking for. A friend asked around at Disney and many have never seen the image. Let alone know where to get a better version.

My coworker used to work for Disney animation and he agrees no news is better than nothing. He said they maybe trying to figure out where to put the show or like the previous quote said rework it a bit. TV execs are pretty cut and dry and if the series was cancelled it would have been announced a long time ago.

Anyhow my 5 and 4 year old LOVE the show. They want us all to dress up as programs and go to the Disneyland Halloween party. My 5 year old will be Rinzler, My 4 year old Beck, Wife a black guard, and I am some random program...

Now for a little bit of good news on the franchise. It looks like Disneyland is embracing the idea of Tron and there is a strong rumor a light cycle ride is coming to Tomorrowland. Disneyland Resort Monstrous Summer Plans, Tomorrowland Future, Colorful Christmas Scroll part way down and you can read about it.

I vaguely remember that EPCOT had the World of Motion I think. There was one part where you would make a left turn and come into the lightcycle scene from TRON. That was the coolest thing to me seeing this when I was pretty young. I think the projection was huge too so it was like really being in the lightcycle. Just thinking about it now brings back the disappointment I had with Legacy.

Finally caught up on the series last night on Netflix and it's pretty good (despite my big gripe of young'ns inheriting the name and reputation of the original and better hero). I'm hoping it comes back later on but from what I hear, it's currently being shopped to other networks. Here's hoping it goes to a channel most people have and watch, albeit, those channels probably being Nick or CN.

I can't stop staring at my Legacy disc and suppressing this urge to modify it now.

It's about time that they did something with the old People Mover tracks (again). The last ride they attempted on it sucked and didn't last very long and the tracks have been idle since. If they do do a Lightcycle ride that would be the first Tron ride since the Tron part of the People Mover was added and what a thrill that was.

Question:

Does it end on a cliffhanger (which isn't resolved in Legacy) or does it end neatly, tying up the remaining plot points or letting them flow seamlessly into Legacy?

It does as best as it can to retcon itself into Legacy. Personally, I couldn't really buy the premise but it's entertaining enough that I can briefly forget about it while I'm watching. The first season ends on a cliffhanger but it resolves enough that you can figure out where it goes from there and ultimately into Legacy. The season finale kind of hints how it's gonna happen if the second series were to be commissioned.

If the show's next season were to come on, I'm sure it'd be that and possibly another season. I can't see this show draw itself out if it wants to lead into Legacy (unless it wants to extend its life during the events of Legacy and after) and still maintain its momentum.

But, these are just my ruminations, if you wanna see the show, then watch it; if ya don't, don't.

Just finished the series earlier today. I did enjoy the series, though a bit disappointed with no more in sight. Not so much of a cliffhanger that you are hanging on to wait for more, but they did set it up to lead into another season.

Here's to hoping they do more. :thumbsup
