Tron Legacy: the Other Props

I feel bad for the people who get the shaft these Logic Boards on eBay. I bought mine for 6.00 plus shipping. I've only been on this forum a short time but and I've noticed that once something is posted on this forum then all of a sudden the prices jump up on ebay or Amazon.

I also got my sim card tray holder for dead cheap and then I see the 3g tray holder (no back on it) on eBay for $75 a piece.. ha

I guess the point of all this is.. do some searching first before you buy anything off of eBay or Amazon. You'll save some money.

I'm not pinning this on any member here but it's just something I have observed.

I was thinking of etched glass myself. Granted, I have no idea how to go about actually getting it made, but I could model it in 3D since it's a pretty simple shape (I'm a noob!) and recreate the graphics in Illustrator and import them into the 3D program.

This is a pic of the coaster from the ARG given out at SDCC last year:

I haven't had a lot of luck finding a screen cap of the coaster from the film but I remember that the shape was the exact same and I'm pretty sure it had the same graphics, just with the blue on the pic above being silver/metallic in the film and the white being glass.

Sadly, we may have to wait until the Blu-ray disc is released on April 11th before starting on this...:unsure

There is chemical etching and abrasive etching..
I can do the abrasive etching on any material.

I think just waiting a few more months for the blu-ray to come out and get the screen caps. You do know you can pre-order the blu-ray? I went for the Disc Deluxe collection(comes with ID Disc) Amazon is got them up oh and it comes with 3d, 2d blu-ray and dvd and Classic Tron.

best to have good shots and a nice prop replica then a sorta looking item.

Anyone get more info on the book it was in? I know its the double elephant cover. There are a few variations of the cover and the double elephant is the oldest.

Any members in France? Maybe some near?

I have seen book store window pics of the books from France and some of them look really nice. Maybe some one can get a copy and do some scans. One of the challenges is the book is a fabric cover so the image is silk screened on to it but am sure we can figure something out.

I personnel would love a 100 yr old book if I can find one, I missed a damaged one on ebay that went for under $20.

Agreed, waiting would be best, I'm just impatient! I know once the Blu-ray comes out the Junkyard is going to explode, I need to start saving up my money now. :lol I should probably hold off on finishing my phone until the disc comes out so I can get it as accurate as I can with my limited skills rather than guessing at things like what kind of housing the chip was in.

That's a fantastic idea, I never even thought of trying to recreate the book she kept it in. Good idea...to the Google!

...Which book was it in again? I've seen the move multiple times and now realize I never paid attention to which book she had it in...

I actually I myself have considered on making one myself. I found clear plastic at an art shop that is thin and stiff enough to be like a coaster and thought of using a decal of the coaster design. But the problem is trying to get it glowing, so I am a little iffy on doing it.

not glow - light up..
maybe something like a light up coaster from Spencer would help figure it out

@ Megatron Les Aventures capitaine Hatteras, but I think it's a slight mod (apart from being blue) of the Hetzel cover the right hand panel looks odd.

Hopefully the book prop surfaces, as I'm curious if the "blueness" was just the treatment of the footage, or if they actually replicated the cover in blue.

well Its Disney and I bet they own the real books. If not for reference at least. If the book is a mod or a prop and not a real book it would make it a lot easier for us.

Blue hehe the story is about the adventures to the poles

I have only found one version of the book in blue and the only pic of it is the spine so I can't tell if it's the same one or not. Judging by preliminary searches I would say we would need to make it ourselves but I could be wrong, need to spend more time looking.

Blue?! What part was blue? I mean the screencap was crappy one I posted, so I won't trust this source. More the D23 Archivist and the pics from blackfeathers.

The version with the cover we are looking for most certainly only ever came in red.

Gotcha, thanks. Sorry for causing some confusion, I would have sworn I remembered the book being blue in the film. I did find plenty in red but they were all on antique book websites and way out of my price range...:eek

These would look great in etched glass to use as permanent coasters, wouldn't they?

I think so too.
