Tron Legacy Movie Review

Yeah, it's only PG. I don't recall anything really objectionable in it, but the story would probably be over his/her head.

Who knows...Flynn's son probably paid the bill before he went to the arcade.

Or maybe Flynn used Solar power or wind generators to keep the Grid and Laser powered up and separate from the main power, just in case of a blackout. In the "Tron: Betrayal" comic, he was opposed to Encom's suggestion o fusing fossil fuels, and had tried to convince them to use alternate sources of energy. "If we do it, others will too" (or something along those lines) is what he said, meaning that if Encom started using alternate fuels, than other corporations would follow Encom's lead.

I saw it last night.

It held my attention and that's rare with movies these days. So, I liked it. The story was good enough I guess. Before I went, I re-watched Tron.

Few things I didn't like...

I didn't like how all the objects looked like 'stuff' with lights on it. In the first one, the objects looked like they were made OF light. It looked more strange and digital.

Clu's face was............ passable.... but they really need to work on that. Actually, they need to scrap the whole technology. Next thing they'll be recreating digital McQueen or something. Bleh.

The main kid being a punk ****** bag was just so formula. For once, can't they get a likable kid as protagonist?

Anyway, 3.5 frisbees out of 5.

I saw it again last night.

I agree regarding "stuff with lights on". But I thought Sam WAS likeable. At least, by the present standards. Sort of subverted expectations there - he's set up as an antagonist at first and then turns out to be a pretty decent guy, self-deprecating even.

Picked up a lot more foreshadowing that I'd missed the first time. (My hearing's getting worse by the minute, I swear.)

God, that soundtrack. I love this film.

A character arc that has the same trajectory as a baseball thrown by a child to his father.

With the recent Caprica discussion, I started to think. Doesn't it seem like Tron ripped off Caprica in that they are in a virtual world and the main character cloned himself?

Well since TRON came out in 1982 (that had the same elements of Legacy) and the world of TRON isn't a "virtual" environment nor did Flynn "clone" himself but rather he created a program that looks like himelf, I think you may be reading too much into it. ;)

Guys. Tron = Anakin.

Both were the baddest warrior in their known universe.

blue lightsaber/blue program "suit"

Gets dismembered.

Goes "Red"

Gets redeemed.

Turns back blue. (Force ghost/blue circuits)

So in reality Tron completely ripped off the hidden fortress!!!

Wait...

No that doesn't make sense...

Your right, they ripped off caprica. :lol

"the best movie i've ever seen with an aweful script" i wondered if this was the case as all the critics said it sucked and all the fans said it was great. i really wonder what normal people think of the movie...

as soon as rinzler sees Flynn and regains himself, his helmet should have disappeared and we should have seen tron's face (this is at best a 3 second scene, they showed a young tron in the flashback, why didn't they do it for this moment?)
now that would have been figgin awesome!

There wasn't much there for the women. The female programs were very 'plaything' types. Or video-game type. Those 4 were in cupboards until needed, like an ironing board.
Quorra was tough, but kind of a pet kept by Big Daddy. Lora would have been a nice addition.

Hey,
Quorra = Hit Girl
Flynn = Big Daddy
Sam = Kickass

Big Daddy dies, Sam and Hit Girl fly away in a jetpack.
