Tron Legacy: Flynn Lives

Now Tron Legacy preview I saw at the El Capitan theater in 3D!!!! Now this is one movie I will be happy to see in 3D!!! The light cycles on the big screen and in 3D were amazing!!!

Looks frakkin' great. Can't wait to see more!

I'm a little puzzled with the location the discussion is taking place in....it's kinda both inside and outside?

Hopefully, this is the tip of the iceberg for all the Tron Legacy marketing goodness. We still have 9 months until the movie release. There is one more Comic Con. If you haven't already done so, sign up on Flynnlives.com and follow the clues.

So, I just saw the teaser trailer and holy MOLY! It's been probably 20 years since I saw TRON, but I think I might need to find a copy to watch on DVD before I go see this one. Looks AMAZING!

I don't know who that David Bowie looking guy in the trailer is, but I think he just sold me two tickets.

I'm going to draw a parallel to the Star Wars prequals and how they did the light sabers. I thought the primative way they created the saber effects gave them an off-world quality. A randomness that gave them that 'spark' of life. The prequals made them so clean and sanitized that they came off as boring and uninspired.

The thing about Tron is the technology at the time contributed to the look even though it was clunky. This new Tron world looks like real life with people wearing EL suits. Yes, I know that computers can create virtual worlds in great detail, but it kills the excitement of venturing into a 'new world'.

I was just talking about that with my wife Clutch. The suits in this film are so plain compared to the originals. It looks like a bunch of sci-fi bikers with EL wire. They should have more light on their suits.

Though I agree, I believe most of that feeling comes from the original Tron and that "computers" (for the mainstream) were still in their infancy. The average joe didn't have one or knew how they worked. It was all cool and mysterious.
Today it's a different story altogether.
