Tron Legacy: Flatline (2/23 pic updates!)

Ok. You ever sit there, thinking about costumes and skimming for ideas, when suddenly you are hit by an "idea explosion"? I just had one of those moments.

Virus / Assassin program named: "Flatline"

Loose fitting coat design similar to CLU2's but with a more medical labcoat looking lighting. (bright green/lime green) No cape, but a mask covering the bottom half of the face onlong with some matching fitting goggles and spiked /slicked back green hair. He would have an ID disc of course, but also a double bladed dagger (similar to the one the medic in "Global Agenda" has)

This is my rough design, I produced a sketch of the wiring, but I am keeping that a secret until i start showing pictures! I am not new to costume making, so I am looking forward to creating something of my own design, while also conforming to the TRON look.

I was originally looking to do CLU2's coat + cape outfit almost to a T, but that was quickly becoming just out of my price range, so I opted to try and make something of my creative little mind! This costume will be a slow in progress, but definately something I will keep working at.

Ideas?Comments?Suggestions?

Some people have suggested getting a priest cassok for a robe and modifying and lighting to look like CLU's robe.

Re: Tron Legacy: Flatline

im not sure about the obvious symbols ( radiation and ecg monitor line) on the design, it makes it look slighly tacky and takes away from what is an overall excellent design.
there are no obvious symbols on any programme in either film...everything is abstract and the lines tend to follow the body.
id abstract those symbols a bit more or leave them out.

Makes sense... I'll have to think about and revise. I'll more than likely keep the ecg lines. Thanks for the info though! I may end up just taking out the radiation symbol/ just find another way to jazz up the back a bit

Re: Tron Legacy: Flatline

I do agree with the removal of the Radiation symbol, but I do like the ECG lines!

I think they fit with the Tron world. Can't wait to see your out come!

I do agree and have taken out the symbol in favor of a more streamlined back, went ahead and put the full wrap around wrist back. Edited the post with updated design. Like I said should be able to grab some fabric and start putting it together this weekend! (atleast the base garment)

Looks great! Will the buttons light up? That would be a new and interesting concept!

Re: Tron Legacy: Flatline

I've been busy with stoofs so haven't been able to do a tremendous amount, but this is about 2 days of sewing work so far. I still have LOTS of work to do, so this is just to show progress for now :D

Re: Tron Legacy: Flatline

I still have to do lets see:
-Trim along all the insides and the bottom.
-The collar up top
-add the extra flap that will come across the front to it looks more like a surgical coat
-add the mount in the back for the disc

and this is just for the coat alone! This was my first time sewing something this big from scratch so I am quite happy so far :3

Re: Tron Legacy: Flatline (2/14 pic updates)

Ended up changing to Red! with some major redesigns to the look of the front (coloring wise)

I know the front looks a little busy/confusing with the top view part, basically im going to build streamlined (as in nonstandard) boards like an armed forces officer. (my back story is Flatline was a military medical program so thats how that fits in) I am going to have to play with it a bit to see how they might turn out.
