Tron Legacy Costume

I'm also not sure what clay would be good for the sculpting, so if anyone had pointers for that it'd help me out a lot too. The ideal clay in my head is easy to sculpt and holds shape well, then hardens. Not sure if this is possible because I'm kind of a noob, but if it is does anyone know a source? Thanks for any advice, hopefully I can make a costume that looks as good as some of the other users suits here :p

I'm going to be using this stuff for sculpting the molds for, at the very least, the helmet. I've got three blocks sitting on the table, hehe... just waiting on a good mannequin head with the right diameter to use as a base. Oil clay doesn't dry, but that's OK because I'll likely be creating an alginate mold of the final sculpture and making plaster casts from it to use as molds for vacuum forming (although once you get a nice mold you can use it for a variety of methods).

Hey everyone! I'm not new to costuming, but I AM new to these forums and EL wire working. I figured this would be the best place to post a few of my questions.

I'm in the process of making a Siren costume for my self, and a program costume for my boyfriend, but I have a few questions about EL wiring.

We will be re-wiring the toy light up disks with EL wire, but we also want our suits to be completely lit with the wire as well. I had a few ideas on how to go about wiring the whole thing, but I don't know how to efficiently hide all the excess wire.

So my questions are:

What would be the best way to go about wiring a Siren suit?

A. Should I just run up the excess, lit, EL wire through the suit, some how covering it up?

or B. Should I cut up the wire and solder it to back to the male end of the inverter wire?

If I do option B., how can I run all that EL wire through one battery pack? Is there a place to purchase some really long inverter wire for all the different sections?

I'm sure these are probably simple questions for some of you...but as I said, this is my first time working with this material. I'm apprehensive and excited all at once!

Hey guys! First time here. Came here for ideas for lighting for my CLUs robes idea! Plenty of helpful info except one question! Im going to make the robes but should I stick with the orange? Or go with my own mark on it and make the lighting green?

Count me in on this thread. Finally got to see the movie in theatre, and OMG!! Hooked! :love

I so want to make a suit now, but damn it, I intend to get some Elastolite, no matter what it takes.

The jacket definitely looks similar to the one worn by the director. I do notice the director's jacket has a lot more detail, like some sort of "punched-out pattern" all over it. I wonder what the material is.

That's a perforated leather motorcycle jacket. Most bike jackets have some perforations (ting holes punched in it) so you don't get to hot on a bike. They usually have liners inside that zip out so you can get some airflow inside the jacket..

Hey everyone just joining up, all of your cosrumes and props for Tron look amazing I will be asking alot of questions and asking for alot of help for sure.

Now that you mention it, I've seen perforated material like that before. The zippers at the end of the sleeves also look like something from a motorcycle jacket (to allow for wearing gloves?). If this were an off-the-rack item (which I doubt) that would be perfect, but I'd settle for a close-enough or an inexpensive repro.

It would be great if these guys would make it: http://www.udreplicas.com/all-products/tron-legacy/.

EDIT: Looks like they're considering it. But it would be more fun to DIY.

First post, two quick questions:

I was thinking of using this as the base for building a lightsuit:

Amazon.com: 2XU Elite Wetsuit - Men's: Sports & Outdoors

But, I have also read that you should make sure the outfit is a little bigger than normal so that you have enough room for everything. So I guess my question is, does anyone have and suggestions/considerations to take into account when buying a wetsuit or is it something that I should try to find at a local store and try on first?

Secondly, the costumes here are insane, and all the suggestions are great. But has anyone compiled all of the step by step stuff into one comprehensive tutorial? I have found a few things online, but it seems like if anyone should be making a guide for this sort of thing it should be someone from here.

Thanks.

To: Anisse

You had planned an rpf meet at E L Capitan next friday the 6th. At which times have you guys decided upon, 7:45 or 10:45? I 'd say 7:45 so that the night will be young enough for pics at bill boards and clubbing. I have a few other friends who want to see the groups cosplays live as well.

:ninja:ninja:ninja:ninja:ninja

Plus to all others who weren't able to make it to tron rpf meet at city walk, there is a small anime convention called ALA next week, friday to sunday. I'll be there in various cosplays, but it'll be cool to set up a cosplay gathering for those who would be checking it out and happen to have tron wear as well.

Give a shout out if you'd like to set up a time to meet there (ALA)! Preferably night, best time to glow!

(new mcp reprogramming pic to be posted soo!)

10:45 showing. Meeting earlier at tron sign before movie for pictures. (providing SOMEONE can make it on time considering all her time will now be for wedding arrangements!!!!! ;) ) CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!

When I make any progress on mine, I'll photgraph it and save the pictures for it's own thread. There'll pretty much be step by step instructions with pictures to do it the way I'm doing it.

Balloon rubber is basically just latex.. which can be found in a sprayable form. You may need some sort of industrial spray gun to apply it, though. I found this while searching around a bit... might be possible to tint it with some sort of pigment to get a nice iridescent white color. I wonder how durable the coating would be on top of Spandex. :confused

I'm starting to suspect that they may have done Quorra's leggings in a similar fashion.

Just been playing Tron: Evolution Wii and there are some nice Program designs you can customise if your are going to create a unique program outfit rather than try to reproduce a main character.
