Tron Legacy Costume

I'm so jealous of everyone, my disney pass is for DisneyWorld here in Orlando on the other side of the country.

Maybe I should get my business together and set something up of my own!

Doesn't your pass technically work for both parks? I thought that was what how it works. If so, all you need is a flight over here! :lol

Do not tempt me! Finishing it that fast, and getting on a short notice plane ride would destroy my budget.

I'm still looking for a guide on how to construct the latex armor if anyone has that.

I am always down for some ElecTRONica action. Couldn't make it last week cuz I had to work same for this weekend but I think ElecTRONica is only on weekends. It was open all last week for Christmas week only. They are only open Fridays Sat. and Sundays as far as I know. Hours suck 6 to 10pm. Wish they went till midnight but that's Disney for ya.

Oh and ElecTRONica goes till April of next year from what I have heard.

Yes, I wanna get us all together for another Tron Legacy movie trip to the El Capitan. How is Thursday January 6th or Friday January 7th for everyone?

If we can make it before the year ends I might be able to do Thursday Dec. 30th. Around the 8-9pm hours any of those days.

Let me know! :)

After last weeks rain out (was there tuesday, EPIC fail), I think they are going to keep elecTRONica open for weeknights this week too. I was there x-mas eve, and many cast members said they were working extra nights, and from that I can only assume disney is trying to recuperate their losses from the rain. Plus between x-mas ang new years I figure many people take off and so it would still be peak season for disney. Last friday they brought out everything, everything, all the shows and street performers.

Lets do a poll! Shout out the days you can tape something together
for EL Capitan- thats a pun E L capitan. :lol

(EL-vis, if you recall the first tron cosplayer you don't have anything to worry about)

As long as you sport the black, the purple/white, plus the sideburns, you'll be a hunk of burning grid luv! (plus get EL rimmed shades)

I was actually thinking of making a version of an Elvis belt out of EL Sheets over leather or something. I do NOT want to half-ass what could potentially be an EPIC costume. Go big or go home is what I say.

Well ive sourced large sheets of EVA foam, tracked down some spray plastidip and have made a list of things i want to try for lighting.

Tomorrow i start a duct tape dummy. Then away I go.
Thanks to all this info i should be well on my way

Heres the foam link if anyone is interested, i grabbed it from another rpf thread

Yoga Mats, Exercise Mat, Polyethylene Foam, Yoga Mat, Exercise Mats

Sam Flynn should be my first costume where i kinda sorta resemble the actor at least if you close one eye and squint a little with the other

I got my Tron Deluxe disk for Christmas! :D I think I'm going to buy another Tron Disk and have two of them. I think I'm going to remove the rubber glow ring from the one I'll wear on my back. The one on my back will only glow in the center ring like in the film when they wear them.

That it is, but I thought "officially" no one under 10 was allowed to go in costume.

Yes that is the rule, but its been possible in the past to get through the gates with your costume covered. I saw a couple of people last month do it. The only real time that you can techincally get away with wearing your costume would be during Halloween when they have halloween parties there. By all means wearing your costume is under your own discretion but I thought I let everyone know of the announcement since I love elecTRONica like some here.

I am just starting my costume and hope to have all done to my liking by SDCC 2011, and then if elecTRONica is still around ill go

I am planning on making a Clu costume soon, and I love all of the great costumes made so far! For some reason Clu always stands out to me, and I really like the character.

Now, this may be a really stupid idea, but I might as well ask, since im researching my options... Would it be possible to sculpt one of these costumes (the armor parts) out of clay, mold it, then make casts out of rubber? I know this has been used on some Iron Man armors and if it would work, I could make a pretty accurate costume...

If anyone knows more info about this process (which I've never done before) I'd really appreciate the knowledge.

I've been lurking around here for a while too. After seeing the movie I knew I just HAD to make a Quorra costume for myself and this site has been a treasure trove of info and techniques I've never seen or thought of before. Bravo to all you clever folks here! :thumbsup

Anyhoo, prior to finding this site my thoughts on how to do Quorra's torso "armor" were pretty much centered around making a form of my own torso using paper mache or something and then sculpting the shape of the armor onto it with oil-based clay. After that I would make a mold of the clay parts and produce rubber casts, much as you describe.

I've found this in my research of the process—Photo Gallery: Creating Lightweight Theatrical Costume Armor—which looks like a great way to go about it. Since Quorra's armor appears to wrap around her torso, though, I may have to make a 360° mold of my torso rather than the front-side mold that this process depicts.

FYI Disney has announced this past week that elecTRONica will be extended INDEFINITELY

Disney park puts Pixar parade on hiatus | disney, parade, set - News - The Orange County Register

elecTRONica has been a huge success with attendance so they will ride the ship as long as they can. Good news for anyone wanting to go in costume

Yeah no costumes on adults. If you do wear a costume, especially anything that resembles the Tron movie costumes, it is under your discretion because if the the main gate security sees you in costume, they will get on your butt about it, trust me, it happened to me and caused big problems wearing my Quorra costume there one time, this was after Halloween, during October I wore it twice and had no problems.

The thing is I was with a couple of friends that were done up head to toe, obvious they were dressed for ElecTRONica ready to party. Well, it caused too much attention plus, I was holding my disc in my hand, they saw that and told me no Tron costumes can come in here.

So word of the wise, please if you are going to attempt to wear any light up Tron costumes, wear a long coat, cover up entirely. Carry your makeup in and finish your look in the bathroom. Do not make yourself obvious or they will not let you in.

Other than this report....... HELLZ YEAH!!!!! ElecTRONica to the end... OF LINE! Keep it going Disney, best idea you have had yet! ;)

OK is there a way for me to post a sticky poll on here so everyone can see this post and it won't get buried in here...

want a vote of who is in for the El Capitan to see Tron Legacy either Thursday January 6th or Friday January 7th. Me and my friend Kit, who came to the meet-up, can go January 6th. I can get discounts that day so the 6th works for us.

We will be in costume, so wearing your hard work Tron costumes is encouraged but not mandatory ;P but makes for alot more fun!

Am thinking around the 8-9pm hours???

Then, we hit the freggin' TRON light up sign on Sunset blvd. afterwards for some photos already. The later we go on a weekday especially the less traffic on Sunset which will make for us getting better shots.

Let us know ppl! Even if you don't live in LA, come fly out and join us any way, if you can :D

OMG! I'm lucky my Tron wear is not so blatant. I guess it just looks like its part of my coat. But I've walked through the gate with it on and have been around both parks 4 times since city walk premier night.

Beside people asking me question about merchandise like I was an employee I didn't get any flak for my cosplay! I'm going to post pics of me around disney with this cosplay and like I said I didn't get any flak.

I was not carrying the staff!! but it would've been epic if I could (belongs to twinlight)

I've taken more time to rework the arms to look like clu's robe arms. Reading Anisse post I guess I'm really pushing it, but kids have been coming up to me and cast members (disney employees) have been chatty with me about my cosplay. Hell I've walked around in dark sunglasses during the day while wearing this TRON Cosplay by myself, and come to think of it, it would look suspicious, but no flak from security or anything. Which is odd cause normally when I go through the gates they have me open my coat, but they didn't make me open up my cosplay coat, and even one security screener said they liked my coat!

Awesome! Yeah, it was such a stressful night for me, that night in my Quorra costume. We actually did manage to get in, but at the end of the night, I had taken my long coat off by then, the same damn security person came up to me and told me, do not wear that costume in here again.

Jezzzzz that was the reflective tape one, I don't think I should even try wearing my new light up version :( sucks because it makes going to ElecTRONica quite the experience too in costume. BIG difference in the fun factor you have.

Good disney/grid fun. More to come from that other park where elecTRONica is on.

You know what's really funny, during the intro right before you enter elecTRONica where they have count down big screen and dancers, they show clips of people enjoying themselves, likely around when they first opened. And in that clip there is clearly a guy who has a fan made glowing cosplay at the "end of line" bar, and playing a game on the wii!

For those of your who've seen elecTRONica's count down intro, have you noticed it too?

Those are pretty awesome! However, I'd be too tempted to recreate the video to "Billy Jean" rather than anything Tron related. lol The Doc Martin combat boots wouldn't be too shabby though.
