Tron Legacy Costume

Love Tron Kitty. :D

I'm sorry if this has been brought up before- after wading through 78 pages things are blurring together. Does anyone have the Art of TRON book? None of the bookstores around me have them in stock, so I haven't been able to look through them. I'm wondering if there are any good photos of the costumes, specifically Rinzler. Not concept drawings, actual photos. I hestitate on ordering after finding that the Art of Alice in Wonderland was so lacking in the costume area for pictures.

I have a copy. It is mainly concept drawings, with a few actual photos. The only picture of Rinzler I think in it is the shot of him jumping down in the Arena scene.

There are a couple of decent pictures of Sam, Quorra, and Clu if anyone is interested. I have noticed that (at least on Clu, maybe Sam) there is some material on the edges of the lighting strips. On Clu it looks like paint or tape, this even forms the black center of the light circles. I'll try to scan some pages or at least take a decent picture of them.

Hi everyone,

Still researching on other technologies to light up suits other than EL wire, Tape or sheet.
Vinyl is tricky, because since is kinda shining as I showed before, it dimmes when glued to some surface. I don't understand why. Real headache.

I talked to reLight Grado Zero Espace: Ricerca, Prototipia, Consulting e Qualita' della vita , but you need a password to enter the specifically link on their website.
I requested the password, and now they ask me why do I want to know about reLight.
Seems like they are keeping the holy grail in there, I pass.

If anyone has the patience I don't I wish the best of luck.

I will keep my research, see ya!

Everyone has done such a great job!!! I especially love the Quorra party dress and the cat program, too cute!!
I want to post pictures so bad of ours but I don't have any finished ones so here's a teaser
You can't see all of mine and I hadn't attached the arm lights yet but here:

These were taken at TRON themed party (we were the only ones dressed up, haha)
My husband and his friend went as their own program designs and I went as Quorra. We used reflective tape and EL.

Nice helmet Alpha06, I dig! What kind is it? Looks very Rinzlerish.

Hey. Thanks :)

It's a paragliding helmet I sourced from china, basically these italian versions (still made in china haha) but cheaper:

Only problem is that it doesn't have the sharp angles, but whatever

Excellent work on the Quorra helmet Sheepgirl. Quorra's helmet was my favorite from the film, also it reminded me of the "Death Mask" from Mass Effect 2. Also for your suit did you use the reflective tape or is that EL? All of these great projects are making me want to take on my custom build. I think I might go the reflective tape route and then upgrade to lighted in the future once I learn a little more about it. Now I just need to figure out effective means of keeping the tape down effectively. Perhaps sew it in?

My scanner is about dead, so I took some pictures of the book. So sorry about the quality. I'll try to get better ones as soon as possible. But you can see the detail on Clu's robe.

I think it might be the same on Sam's suit, but I can't tell for sure on the photos I looked at.

ETA: If you want a picture of any of the characters, I'll look for it in the book. I know that there are a number of pictures for Sam, Quorra, the Sirens, and Clu.

Before I get to work on the major costuming, I did some makeup tests on my boyfriend and I. I tested out the Siren makeup, along with a program with derezz damage:

I didn't put the double sets of eyelashes on, but when the costume is finished, I will. Along with the grey contacts. My boyfriend doesn't know if he'll do contacts yet...though I want him to :p! I want to make a more detailed 'damage' part on his face. I plan to get more makeup colors, and try to do tiny pixel chips. This was just a fast run at it, last night.

Your bf could almost pass for the Asian guy from the disc wars scene!

I'm totally down for an ALA meetup. Saturday would be the only day I could go if I find someone to take me. Anyone else good with that?

Okay Members here might be some good news. I don't think many of us are good at Using & connecting electrical wires for any Tron Outfits. I Noticed ANNISE Used 3M TAPE. But there 's a way to heighten the effect so it not only glows, but it's not expensive. I looked a glow in the dark paints. I always thought there was only green. But I was wrong. They have all the Tron colors. The trick is using a base color of white. Then you paint the top with the Glow paint. There's even a website that claims it will stay lit up for hours after being charged in light. The effect is the same as the EL tape. And a lot cheaper. There's some websites that are not up to par. Make sure as you search they have the intese phosphorus. I'm going this route since I'm on a budget! Good luck to everyone!
I used glow paint on mine. But the sad part is not all the colors hold a charge for the same amount of time. Blue only holds for a short period of time. I just wish I could carry a black light with me 24/7 (the black light flashlights don't do the trick)

though as you can see the glow is really awesome when it is active. It worked especially well when I made a Navi for my Legend of Zelda costume
