So today I finally started thinking about making my own tron disc. I haven't actually had a chance to see the film yet, but I have 5 or so usuable screen caps from the trailer, so now I was wondering, does any one have dimension and or blueprints?
Thanks guys

Are you doing the original or Tron: Legacy? It it's Legacy, then I've heard that the Deluxe Discs they are selling are accurate as far as size goes.

$13.99 at target.
You're going to shell out a lot more cash than that to make your own if you're going for anything near screen accurate.

Right now it is an interest thread for an upgrade kit, but its still In the works. Check out the thread over in the junkyard, its meant to fit the deluxe kit.

Just for the record and so you know these ARE smaller than the ones in the movie. Probably closer to what Quorras disc was sized to. (they were different)

The toy "throwing" disc is closer to the size of the mens props but the center hole is smaller.

So both toys are off.

There are several threads on this though.

3 or 4 different guys doing custom lighting.

Soulinertia is the only one planning on selling kits. (ATM)

The signup is going on now in the JY.

That's correct. The deluxe disc is 9.5 inches with the blade. Spinmaster used "Quoras" hero disc for the toy basis since it was more suitable for kids hands. The 9.5 inch disc can also be seen when Castor is shacking the disc in his hands at the End of the Line club. The hero discs were 10 inches with the blade, while the background/ long shot disc for non principle actors was 12 inches with blade. Stunt discs also ranged from 10- 13 inches depending on the person. Hope this helps.

I think ill go wih the deluxe model. My only other dea would be to make an accurate one out of foamcore and bondo then cast it with resin. But then again, it woupd be a pain to put leds in it

alrighty, so i have a deluxe rinzler model. now what? I'm gonna open it up and take all the made in china logos and crap of the back.

The deluxe disc is 9.5 inches with the blade... The hero discs were 10 inches with the blade...
So.. half an inch difference? I'm okay with that, for less than fifteen bucks. Well, plus the inevitable light kit, but you get where I'm coming from. :)

not sure what i was thinking, but i filled in the c ring with hot glue instead of resin. it would look really nice if it was even and sandable, but it isn't. any suggestions, either regarding evening bubbles in hotglue or getting rid of hotglue period

Has the hot-glue fused with the plastic?
If not.. you might simply be able to peel it out.

Otherwise... you should be able to carefully remove it with an exacto blade.

My advice: take. your. time.

I cut out a basic c shaped piece of translucent plastic from a storage box. I glued it in from the back and filled in the rest in hot glue...
