Trek TOS "Chekov" Midgrade Phaser Pistol

I've been working on this for a while, but since I had the time and some actual decent weather for a change I finally finished this.

My favorite version of the TOS phaser is the standard "midgrade" dummy phaser prop, but since pretty much every individual prop looked different, I had a hard time choosing what I thought "THE" midgrade phaser should look like, detail-wise. I finally decided the easy way out was to choose ONE photo that I liked the look of and just make THAT phaser, so I decided on the midgrade seen on Chekov's belt in "The Apple," as seen here:

My replica of this phaser is a real Frankenstein, with no two parts on it coming from one source, but I tried to choose parts that closely resembled the ones on Chekov's specific phaser, so every single part has been modified somehow to better match it.
It's not quite perfect, but I think I managed to catch the unique look of the midgrade phasers pretty well. Now if only I could find what I did with the brass rod for the lock release... :angry :lol

Thanks for looking. :)

Oops, should have done a parts summary. :$

The hand phaser, pistol body, and handle are resin, as are the radiator fins and (for right this moment) the pistol trigger.

The nozzle, front plate, side knob, sight cover, thumbwheel, and setting knob are aluminum.

The hand phaser was made from two bottom halves of a Todd M. phaser, the pistol body is from one of Blufive's kits, and the handle is an HMS.

The various metal parts have been in my "box o' parts" for so long I'm not sure anymore what came from where, but they would all be from various vendors either here or on ASAP.

Paints included:

Hand Phaser: Dupli-Color black primer and Testors aluminum plate.
Pistol Body: Testors Panzer Gray.
Handle and Radiator Fins: Testors gunmetal.

Here's the screen cap, here's the prop. I like it.

Excellent looking phaser.

Looking good.

:thumbsup

I can give you another brass release the next time I see you if you can't locate yours.

:)

That piece o junk does not deserve a brass rod.

Seriously though,nice work.

I especially love the paint job. :thumbsup

Outstanding work. This is just making me want a TOS phaser even worse.
nice attention to detail as well.

WOW. That's great work. I especially love the 10-turn. Do you happen to remember where you got that part? :love
