Trek chief of operations rank

I had a whole bunch of these iron on patches made up a while back. Looking at as many screen shots as I can I am forced to not use these "stand-in" patches, and instead wonder what the real thing was made of. Was it resin cast? metal? An embroidered patch, or just a black and grey instead of white and grey?

I want a good looking Chief of Operations collar insignia. Can anyone offer any advice? Or at least better pictures of the rank insignia than these from startrek.com ?

Take a look at this photo of a screen used O'brien uniform. It may help. I think it looks like it's an embroided patch that's satin stitched around it's edges onto the uniform.
