Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon Movie Review *spoilers*

Felt like i was watching the first two movies again, wayyyy too long, about a dozen characters they just crammed in there that served no purpose, boring, but cool robots.

If it was just that, I'd have enjoyed it. I don't enjoy racist ghetto robots, robots humping legs, robots pissing on people, parents getting stoned in some wacky brownie mixup, or robot balls clanging in my face. All that crap is the Jar Jar Binks of the Transformers movies.

Amen.

Nope. Shame too, I like 'splosions, but you have to give me something else...or I will just play video games for my fix.

Hey, speaking of that, did anyone else notice the US Military "First-Person-Shooter" video game POV? Like you're watching the movie as a game player. In Chicago, shooting Decepticons....OBVIOUS game tie-in! It took me WAY out of the movie.

First, have you noticed a lot of the scenes seem to be shot at late afternoon? It appears to be late afternoon ALL DAY LONG?
Second, does Michael Bay own stock in a company that produces gold reflectors?

Yeah, late afternoon......gold reflectors.....always-sweaty-looking actors.....same skinny LA actresses in tight silk dresses who all look exactly the same.......That's pretty much every Michael Bay movie.:rolleyes It's like watching Tim Burton reuse black-and-white-striped sock puppets...... only with less artistic talent.

And Shockwave was a joke.
Have to agree. It seemed like he was only a badass in this one because he had the Driller. Yeah, he's still a badass after he loses the Driller, but only for about thirty seconds of screen time. They should have dropped the Driller entirely and made Shockwave all that badass on his own.

Was that Einstein one really Wheeljack? I missed that. I thought they called him by a different name. Same with the Italian car- I thought it was "Dino" or something, not Mirage.
They were originally supposed to be Wheeljack and Mirage, but were apparently renamed. No idea why. I can kind of see a stupid Bond joke in naming him "Q", but it's just too stupid. And I don't think Mirage needed to be named "Dino" just to reiterate that he's an Italian car.

But Bay has NO sense of consistency. In 1, we had "Devastator" the tank.....then the (supposedly) REAL Devastator in 2. Then in 2, Jetfire (a Decepticon) uses what he calls a space bridge to transport everybody to Egypt....then we get the REAL space bridge in 3 as a supposedly NEW Autobot technology?
I hear you. He openly admitted that using the name Devastator in the first film was a mistake. But I don't get the space-bridge thing at all. Jetfire clearly calls it that in the second film (although the one in DOTM is more like the real one, meant for large-scale transport).

Jetfire himself is pretty inconsistent if you think about it. He apparently predates Sentinel Prime by millennia (I got the impression he actually worked with the original Primes on their Energon-hunts), and has been out of it for who knows how long, yet he somehow managed to disguise himself as a modern aircraft in the last fifty years.

Why/how did Optimus lie to Sam when he was wearing the watch?
I actually caught this one.. Sam tells Optimus that "if you tell me, no human will hear it", and he actually emphasizes the word "human". That was enough for Optimus to get the hint. Plus the way he came out and asked the question was somewhat unusual for him, and I think Optimus would have picked up on that too.

All in all, not bad. I liked the darker tone that this one had, and the pacing seemed better. It was longer, but didn't feel longer, and didn't jump around as haphazardly as the last one did.

I had kept myself pretty spoiler-free on this one, so I was surprised to see Malkovich and Alan Tudyk show up, I had no idea they were in this at all. And I was kind of pumped to see a Ferrari 458 Italia at the beginning, I love that car. I was kind of disappointed in the Italian accent, though.

Still.. definite Blu-ray purchase.

For me, the best part of these movies has been the military and the robots. I REALLY was hoping that after seeing the first teaser trailer, that is what this was going to be. For me, Lennox is the best part of all 3 films and I WISH it had been him, his team, and the Tranformers kicking a$$ the entire film like it was in the last part of Transformers 2.

.....Hmm. I think I get it now. Hiring Michael Bay to make Transformers was a mistake. He should have been given G.I. Joe.
I'd like to think that movie couldn't be any worse, but that maybe could have made it worse :lol

Ugh.......I had a bunch of twentysomethings- talking about the movie- walking out as I was walking in......my wife and kids didn't hear it, but I couldn't tune them out: "...I kept thinking Starscream! Fly! Fly away! You won't die if you fly away!..." I was fuming the whole way in. Should have thrown my popcorn at them or something.

But Ironhide WAS a total surprise....really sad actually, considering HOW it happened. Then Bay shows him again, disintegrating.....it was so depressing.

dude you realize that in the 2nd trailer you see starscream die. when its that clip of bumblebee transforms, then jumps up the side of the building and rescues sam (and someone else) while starscream is exploding in the background.

where would they have launched the tomahawk's from? Naval ships usually are not in the great lakes.

"dude" you realize my whole point in quoting jedi2016 was that I too AVOIDED spoilers? Why do you assume I saw the trailer and how is that relevant? Unless you know what that jumbled Michael Bay mess of CGI parts IS in the background, for the 2 seconds you see it, that one tiny clip is not entirely self-explanatory.

I know this is a basher thread (as with everything Bay on this board) but I enjoyed the film. Not fantastic or anything but about the same as the others. I actually think I may like #2 the best so far. Still I was entertained so I was happy with the money spent.

(Just in comparison - I also saw my new "worst movie ever" this weekend. Beating out Planet Terror by a looong shot is the new number one crappiest film made - Inglourious Bastards) thank heaven I did not pay for that film!)

I wasn't impressed by either of the first two Transformer films.Even less by the second one.I really hated Transformers 2,it was a real P.O.S.These films are just commercialized carbon copies of one another. Why should Transformers 3 be any different? It has the same S&@*^!?&y actor(s)acting/dialog in it and as always...a very thin plot/storyline given the greenlight by studio fat heads and Michael Bay with his,"Don't worry,I'll throw in some more explosions and maybe show some boobies this time to distract the audience".A badly written script can make an Oscar winning actor look like a freak'n ASS CLOWN, but when you already have a lead character protrayed by an actor who can't do but three different things on film and yell "OPTIMUSSSSSSS!" about a dozen times...there's not much there. To compare the Transformer films to Blade Runner(even the theatrical release) is an insult to Ridley Scott and some of the greatest ever produced Sci-Fi films.Geeses, they are recycling footage from the first two films?I guess that is Michael Bay trying to stay "on budget".It already sounds like a joke. These films may be commercialy successful, but then again...you don't have to do much to entertain kids or the "modern audience today. The quality of films and the miovie experience (I.M.O) has really gone the way of the Doh Doh. These aren't a films about fighting robots, they are films made specifically to capitalize and make big dollars for its investors and the ever decaying Hollywood machine who these days seems to take pride in producing S&*^!?*%@% movies.

Planet Terror is a "CLASSIC" compared to any of the Transformers films. You have "to dig" Tarantino films to like "Inglorious bastards".

I like the Transformers movie series. Its nothing to go crazy over, but it is at least entertaining.

Sometimes I do wonder how good it could have been if the robots actually had more dialogue to develop their personalities. If I knew more about them, it would make the huge fights more meaningful.
