Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon - Movie Discussion

Ha! That was great! I am pretty tough on films, and there are few I like and don't complain about, but I still don't get why people love to hate on Transformers. If you don't like Michael Bay, I get it, he is repetitive, but so are many entertainers. The only thing I think Michael Bay does poorly is comedy. His sense of comedic moments is very immature, over-the-top and ham-fisted. I don't care for them at all. However, as this series has progressed, I have really come to appreciate the way he has handled the Transformers franchise. I was a bit put off by the initial designs as they seemed overcomplicated, but they have grown on me and honestly, I can't really imagine anyone else bringing us a better translation from a truly ridiculous idea of transforming robot cars into a real world scenario.

If you want summer blockbuster popcorn action, I just don't see what is to dislike about Michael Bay. Is it because he puts our military in a good light and doesn't make them all out to be psychos and racist babykillers? Is it because he has a lot of explosions? Go back and watch the transformers TV shows! They are shooting all over and blowing up stuff all over. How did you think that was going to translate into the "real" world? Is it because his movies lack a deep and meaningful plot? Hello. Summer blockbuster! Not many have that deep of a plot and those that try to usually end up a muddled mess.

I just don't know what people were hoping for with this franchise but I think overall it has been handled really well (aside from the poor comedy) and can't wait to see this one!

What's not to like?
If you go into a transformers movie expecting anything other than big explosions, robots bashing the crap out of each other and simple dialogue then you're gonna be disappointed.
The films aren't going to be celebrated for their use of clever dialogue to spin the yarn are they? They could cut the dialogue out completely and I'd still love it.
All those folks that say they hate the Transformers love them secretly.
Go on, admit it. You actually quite like them, own them on DVD and have seen them at the cinema. You will also see the new one as soon as it's released and then go buy the DVD a few months later. You will then log on the RPF and say how much you loathed it. After which you will sit down to a Transformers trilogy night with some buddies just to confirm how much you loathed them LOL

Maybe this is old news but I just read that the release date was bumped up to June 29th on this one....and I'm off this Wednesday....YAY!! :)

I'm going tomorrow night at 9pm for the 28th sneak early showing before official release and will give a report!

I don't think I'll be much a good credit to others here because I loved the first one and the second one was fun (though I have my gripes). So I might not have a very unbiased opinion, haha!

REALLY looking forward to this film personally!

The reviews so far at Aint It Cool seem to be somewhat okay, but not so much on Rotten Tomatoes:
Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Rotten Tomatoes

After the extreme let down I felt from the last one, I know I'll likely regret it...but I feel compelled to turn off my brain for a couple of hours and sit through this one. I'm not really looking for anything this week other than to see some stuff get blown up, and some robot on robot action:lol

Don't give in to the Dark Side...

Ill be heading for a midnight showing of this flick as well, expect a semi-conscious rant/review from me around 3 am...

I LOLed, but he blew his chance with me. I can excuse some pretty suuub par cinema (I enjoyed MegaForce as a kid and would watch it again tonight) but come on.

Oh man, Megaforce is the worst movie ever. I would only watch it to laugh at how bad it is.

Sweet

Wasn't he Galvatron's voice in the animated movie back in the 80's?

Yeah he did the voice in the '86 movie and then it went back to Frank Welker in the last season and a half of the series. *has his Transformer dork hat on* :lol I really want to like this one cause even to a G1 purist like me it looks pretty good. I give it 3 years before they do a reboot (hopefully based on the War For Cybertron game series).
