Ha! That was great! I am pretty tough on films, and there are few I like and don't complain about, but I still don't get why people love to hate on Transformers. If you don't like Michael Bay, I get it, he is repetitive, but so are many entertainers. The only thing I think Michael Bay does poorly is comedy. His sense of comedic moments is very immature, over-the-top and ham-fisted. I don't care for them at all. However, as this series has progressed, I have really come to appreciate the way he has handled the Transformers franchise. I was a bit put off by the initial designs as they seemed overcomplicated, but they have grown on me and honestly, I can't really imagine anyone else bringing us a better translation from a truly ridiculous idea of transforming robot cars into a real world scenario.
If you want summer blockbuster popcorn action, I just don't see what is to dislike about Michael Bay. Is it because he puts our military in a good light and doesn't make them all out to be psychos and racist babykillers? Is it because he has a lot of explosions? Go back and watch the transformers TV shows! They are shooting all over and blowing up stuff all over. How did you think that was going to translate into the "real" world? Is it because his movies lack a deep and meaningful plot? Hello. Summer blockbuster! Not many have that deep of a plot and those that try to usually end up a muddled mess.
I just don't know what people were hoping for with this franchise but I think overall it has been handled really well (aside from the poor comedy) and can't wait to see this one!
