Total Recall (2012)

You know, many remakes could just do something that accepts the previous as canon right?

Yes, the events in the first film happened, but this is a new guy dealing with Rekall.

Yes, Murphy was the first Robocop, but he is retired now and this is another officer.

I dunno, seems a good way to deal with things instead of oh that first film never happened.
It doesnt have to be a sequal proper, just a new story that doesn't reject the previous.

The more I see from this movie, the more I think they made something really good. .

Watched the preview this morning before TDKR, and I am just not feeling this one. I think I'll wait to see it on Netflix. On the plus side the Will Ferrel film looks hilarious.

It'll be worth getting on dvd, the setup with the floating cars looks like a setup that was used in a few others where they're hooked to overhead power lines.

As I am a big fan of science fiction from authors like Philip K Dick, and Isaac Asimov. I am excited to see this story get a slightly different visual take.

Not sure if anyone is watching, but Sons Of Guns is airing right now on Discovery and Red Jacket Firearms is doing their take on the Kriss Vector SMG that's featured in the movie. The Chiapa Rhino is also shown as well as the hover cars that are seen in the film.

Damn I missed this. Repeat worth watching?

I would say so. The stunt Vector used by Colin Farrell on screen was given to them for inspiration. Also, Patrick Tatopoulos, who is the production designer makes an appearance and the stunt drivers and a stuntwoman from the movie are there as well since they do a big production thing when they test out the weapon. No Jessica Biel or Kate Beckinsale, though. :cry

Does anyone who has seen the movie yet know what kind of Jacket Quaid/Hauser is wearing? I think it looks similar to an M-65 field jacket, but I keep thinking the collar is supposed to be cropped short to stick up.

Not sure if the movie is any good but there was a great show called Hollywood Builders on DIY channel that focused on the set design and set building. Lots of behind the scenes stuff including some prop making. Surprisingly there were very few interviews with the stars so finally the actual set guys got to show off what they do. I'd recommend it if it's online or rerun.

I saw the movie and while the effects and characters were good, the story was butchered in a way that made it no better than just some guy wanting to take over the world. SPOILER: the whole Mars thing is cut out. It all takes place on earth.

Good for one viewing but not two.
