Got this nice item from a fan of my Podcast. It's a TOS styled tricorder that comes with the TOS DVD set in Japan. It's very well done and is also an FM/AM radio. Check out the pics below:

Thats pretty dang spiffy.

Always thought they should have shaped the TOS DVD set plastic case like a tricorder. Its just about the right size.

Only sound is from the radio, no effects sound. It's so-so sound. Basically think a cheap FM-AM radio tossed inside.

From what I've seen it's 2/3 scale. Better looking than the Platmtes though.

About two months before the complete three-season boxed set was announced, I bought the entire original series on 40 separate discs (two episodes per disk). :cry

It was my single largest order ever from Amazon.

No, it's actually a bit bigger than full scale. I'll try and put up a pic with it next to my MR tricorder as a comparison.

When it comes to the Japanese DVD sets and the extras they get we here in the United States really do get the short end of the stick. :(

That IS pretty cool, but who isn't thinking it would have been cooler if it was a DVD player?

You know it can be done with today's technology.

damn cool,

is there any way to get one from over here. :cry

is there anyway we can buy some sets from Japan. :)

any idea what cost would be.
