I have some more I'll post later of her in space, in orbit, facing off with a Klingon, etc.

Dude, seriously, and I mean SERIOUSLY, my jaw just hit the floor.:love
Holy ruttin' felgercarb.

Thanks man! The backdrop was done using black foamcore board and a paintbrush dipped in fluorescent white acrylic paint; I'd dip the brush in the paint and pull back on the bristles with my fingertip before I let fly. The paint specks looked great as stars! I was fracking amazed how well this technique worked.

Thanks kahn! One of the things I like about this model is the way it can look much larger than it is. Check out these outdoor shots in front of my garage. Doesn't it look bigger than 12 inches long?

Nice job!:thumbsup It does look larger than it really is.

You know that pic of the 11 footer on the side of the road with the guys who made it? Those pics of it sitting in your driveway look just like it. I'm with Chrisisall...that shot of her orbiting the planet looks like a screencap from the show. This is a fantastic build-up of this kit...you squeezed a hell of a lot of mileage out of it.

Okay, I am going to call your bluff. I don;t think you built a 1/1000 kit. I think you found the long lost 33" studio model and you are just teasing us SAYING it is the 1/1000 kit while shooting photos of it. ;)

Nice photography. Of course the model itself just seems to have the right "look" for something to appear bigger than it actually is.

You mean this pic:

From Wonkipedia:

"Pictured below is a poster of the 11 foot production series Enterprise model.
From left to right is project director Richard Datin and model builders Vern Sion and Mel Keys.
This photograph was taken in April, 1966 outside of Volmer Jensen's model shop.
The poster was made full size from a photo taken in Vern's driveway prior to delivery of the actual
studio model which required a larger delivery van."

Well I guess the jig's up. You found me out! :facepalm

Seriously, the secret to me as far as giving the illusion of larger size is the weathering. To me, a perfectly clean Enterprise just looks too toylike. You have to be careful to get ti just right though and not go overboard. This is old news I'm sure to you guys but I see a lot of builds where the modeller didn't bother to weather the old girl and it just isn't screen accurate IMO.

Found one of my space pics that works pretty well for The Tholian Web.

Here's the original screencap:

And with my 1/1000 model:

Not bad IMHO.

That is devoid of tin containers...

Er, I mean, it's uncanny.:)

Yeah. I wasn't even looking at the screencap when I composed the space backdrop shot in my garage but after cropping the frame angle is almost exactly the same.
As Steve Martin would say, "Sometimes I amaza myself!"
