TOS Disruptor Color Question

The grey and green on this original prop appear darker than on most other photos I've seen, including the MR version.

Yet those colors on the original prop are almost an exact match for the D-7 paint scheme posted here...

Does anyone know the "correct" color of grey and green on the disruptor or is it simply a matter of taste?

Thanks in advance!

Dean

I was alaways told it was 2 shades of grey. My MR disruptor has 2 shades grey. The problem with photos is the colors don't always turn out the way the colors appear in person.

What kind of a timeframe are you looking at as far as painting? I'm going to the hardware store in the next day or two and I can take my MR TOS gun and compare colors with what they have in the store and let you know the colors that match the closest.

St. Louis,

I'm still cleaning it up and prepping so I'm thinking this weekend to hit the paint store. If you could do that it would be awesome!

Thanks!

As I understand it the dark gray/green color is what was on the prop, and the battlecruiser, and they just appeared lighter and less green on screen. The MR was painted to match what was seen on screen.

How you paint yours is a matter of preference, either way works.

The gun I scratch built about 23 years ago was painted so you could more easily see the contrasting gray tones. The MR colors are so close that it was almost pointless to use two shades. I'll still look if you would like but given the choice I'd make it contrast a bit more as I did 23 years ago.

Thanks, man. No need to check on second thought.

I'm going to go my own way with this. :lol

I was just trying to avoid posting progress pix up here and having a half dozen guys say "that's not the right color for that prop." With this prop in particular it doesn't appear that there's any SET color scheme.

I just got back from my Ace Hardware store about 15 minutes ago. Rustolium auto grey primer looks close to the grey for the handle...not exact but close. As far as the grey with a tint of green for rest of the gun, there was nothing in the ballpark that resembles it.
