I have been browsing around this site for a few months now trying to get some ideas for a build. I am a Star Wars fanatic and wanted to do something with a foam build. I decided to do the Jedi Guardian armor from swtor.
This is my first build ever so I am looking forward to how it turns out. I would appreciate any tips that you may have as I begin on this new hobby. Looking at the official picture on swtor.com and other people's build, I have not seen anyone build the armor pieces that go under the cloak (back piece, biceps, butt guard, shoulder guards). I will attempt to make those pieces so I have a full set of armor when the cloak is removed. I know if I were to get into battle I would remove my cloak to fight.
I will be using 1/4 inch foam to make this armor. I got a roll from Big Lots for $19. I started with the chest piece yesterday.
I was also able to get the gauntlets done.
Today, I worked on the back piece to the armor today. I used my toon's armor on swtor to base it off of.
This is the end result.
Overall I am happy with it. I am ordering some straps and buckles so hopefully they will be in this week. After I paint the pieces I'll put the straps on to make sure it is a perfect fit. I also tried to do the shoulder guards but I failed miserably. I can't get the foam to work with me. If anyone has any tips on how to make the shoulder pads out of foam I will greatly appreciate it. I will try to get the bicep pieces done tomorrow. Thanks for looking.
