OP, quick question: Are you going for the Ver.1 "Afghanistan" Reactor or the Ver.2 "Malibu" Reactor?
I could probably whip up a template (3-D model+Pepakura=win) to build a reasonably accurate wearable Arc using sheet styrene or cardstock along with a simple LED lighting guide to make it entirely self-contained... it wouldn't cost more than $10 to build it yourself at the most basic level.
I plan on making one myself, so it wouldn't be any prob for me.
Wow, I love that Muckle. Worth every penny?
@ Bowelrock: How is the reactor attached to you? cross straps? a neckstrap?

I'd say so, paid $2500.00 delivered. The eyes and chest were simply painted white. Had to light the eyes and chest for it to pop.
I'm making one with a source most people haven't even looked at: Cashew (or other canned nut) tin lids. They're perfectly sized, have the right rim, and are thin enough that they'd look right (you'd probably actually have to make them a bit thicker with cardstock or something around the edge). I'm just putting LEDs attached directly to a coin cell battery inside it after I paint it silver and put a backing on it so there's no light bleed-through. Use bright enough LEDs and some wax paper to give it the diffused look and you can probably bring it in under $20. I'll build it over the next week and post pisc when I can.
Nice job Ross, but will it really power up a Suit of Electronic Armor? :confused
