Quick little shot in progress of my James Bond car - I'm doing my best to finish up the machining on this for a charity ball New Year's Eve with a spy theme to benefit the Girls and Boys club:

I also have some fog machines to simulate the "tear gas", a Playstation 2 with James Bond Racing so kids can sit in the back seat and drive the car like in the flick, and an iPod filled with a computer voice reciting the demanding lines from the flick.

(Bond faces a roadway full of baddies wielding machine guns)

"Driver Alert: Pedestrians in roadway."

We'll see how many of the toys get done for this event and which projects get put off until the next event.

Now that is COOL! Very nice. PLEASE post more pictures as your project progresses, including full shots of the car. Good luck with the charity...a very honorable cause.

Holy cow... I love Tomorrow Never Dies, and I love that Beemer. This is incredible. Any more pics of the whole car?

Here's this morning's progress:

Fabricated a half-dozen brackets to hold the sunroof in place, glued all of the tubes (44 of them) in place permanently, built+ test fit the bracket for rocket #1, machined the other 11 rocket brackets.

All that's left is to attach the remaining 11 rockets with the brackets I built this morning, cut the yellow-and-black striped blast shield in the back, and throw a coat of paint on the base plate + attach the whole shebang to the base. Not a moment left to spare, but I should be done tomorrow if the rain doesn't throw a wrench in the works.

I'll have plenty of other pictures when I'm done...

I always thought this was the best of the 'modern' James Bond cars, aside from that silly little 'magically-adjusted-to-the-perfect-height' rope cutter thing on the hood.

They started getting a little ridiculous from this point on. (what with the 'invisible' vanquish)

The rockets are Estes Bullpups, pretty heavily modified to fit.

Here's a close up of the rocket showing the mounting bracket. Adjusting the nuts on a 4-40 threaded rod sets how far the nosecones stick out. The big space in the back of each rocket leaves me room for future solenoid valves for NERF technology - but I'll need to dump the Estes pieces and swap them for soft foam rubber first.

All 12 rockets and sunroof mounted. Tomorrow morning I test fit the blast shield and do the final fitting on the base plate, and that's all she wrote.

i like it, you dont get pulled over or anything for have weapon like props on your car?

Wocka, you've hit it dead on. Driving on public roads with weapons or weapon-like objects on your car is a felony in California so this is a removable assembly which only comes out for car shows.

Quite a success, everybody loved the car and the event raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Boys and Girls club. And I got plenty of good wisecracks in with my John Cleese-y Q costume. And I won an autographed picture of Don Adams + Barbara Feldon in the silent auction plus a DVD set of "Get Smart", which my friend the producer of the DVD set autographed in invisible ink courtesy of a toy Sonic Screwdriver I've been using as a dog training whistle.

Here's a link to the Photobucket album for the evening:

Just saw this, and it blew my mind! Wow!!!

I was looking at the SoCal prop party pics, and this was the thing that really caught my interest and a search led me to this thread. That is really amazing, you are very brave for doing that to a nice 7-series! So when you say it's removable, does the sunroof function as normal when you remove the missile assembly for driving?

The photobucket album link above doesn't work for me. Could you please post it again? (even copying the link location and pasting it in the URL bar just goes to the main photobucket page) I'd really like to see more!

Hmmm....

Try this one:

Also, Star Car Central is on Facebook and I've been uploading lots of pictures of the various events there:

The 7 series doesn't have any non-reversible modifications... yet. (The chain cutter and rear bumper spike dispenser definitely involve a fair share of cutting). The sunroof works normally when the missiles are removed.

Saturday's show also had the "Tear Gas" out in force:
