I've owned both a Coyle and a Tomenosuke. Here are some of the more notable differences which I pointed out in another thread (
http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=211194):
Rich's
- a bit more heft to them than the Tomenosuke blasters (marginal, but noticeable)
- grips lean more to the orange spectrum
- green LEDs on the sight rod light up
- has a removable ammo clip with faux bullet which is kind of cool
- comes with a display stand and plaque
Tomenosuke's
- pristine, sharp lines and angles (laser cut letters on the receiver are distinct and exhibit no softness or loss of detail)
- receiver on pre-built models comes finished (colour varies depending on edition), whereas Rich's are unfinished
- grip colour is more on the yellow side
- the chamber turns when the trigger is pulled
- green LEDs on the sight rod do not light up
I'd add to that list that the front trigger can be pulled on a Tomenosuke while a Coyle's cannot, and that a Coyle can be a bit delicate and is more for display, whereas a Tomenosuke can be handled a bit more.
Ultimately, in deciding which one to get, I think the biggest question to ask yourself is: which one looks more like the movie prop to you? Some think Rich's looks more accurate, while others believe Tomenosuke's is. If you value hand crafted art, like a used universe look, and prefer a more bare metal look, a Coyle may be the blaster for you. If, however, you are more concerned with precision and fine detail, and like a darker metallic finish, I'd recommend a Tomenosuke.
Here are a few photos of my Coyle and Tomenosuke "WorCon" pro from 2013 for reference.
Keep in mind the finish on the Tomenosukes varies from one release to the next. The first release had a dark metal finish and dark grips, the next (mine) had a lighter finish on the metal and grips, and later releases have had anything from very yellow to perfect grips while the metallic finish has become more matte.
