Atthefront.com is one of the best companies I have dealt with. Great customer service and they know everything about the uniforms they sell.

Anyone have the spec's on what hes wearing/ weapon type. Ive always wanted to do ones of these Cpt. Miller combat suits.

Yep, atthefront.com :thumbsup

I put together a WWII uniform back before SPR came out so things were a little cheaper then. Still should be able to put something together fairly cheap.

He's wearing a Wool Infantry uniform with a M1941 Field/Tanker Jacket. M1 Helmet with netting. Leather boots with m1938 canvas leggings.

He carries an M1 Garand plus his service pistol.

Private Ryan wears the Paratrooper uniform.

what type of sub machine gun, or machine gun is he carrying as well???

My mistake, he doesn't carry the M1. He carries the Thompson SMG. Reiben carries the B.A.R.

you where close with M1. hehe M1a1. Thompson SMG

Ryans is the 41 pattern jump uniform.

The 2 most expensive pieces are the Thompson and the Ranger he is wearing in the first picture.

Started on this a week or so ago

That looks like a M1943 field jacket....which, I hate to tell you, is the WRONG ONE.

the '41 is tan colored, shorter and has an entirely different look.

You can get cheap repros of the '41 for about $60 though...

Here's one for $50:

PS. Loved galaxy quest, commander. It's too bad you don't live in Northern cali, you could ride in my jeep on 4th of july.

Yeh im not to worried about the jacket as im going to be wearing the assault vest over the jacket. Same one he wore in the landing the beach scene.

By the way, anyone recommend some good weathering techniques for clothing and the helmet??? I kinda want to have a very chalky look to it, maybe even some sand stuck to the helmet??? Any recommendations on how to get the sand to stick permantly to the helmet and also seal any weathering I do on the cloths so it wont come off?????

I take it going airsofting/rolling around in the dirt for a day won't work?

Yeh but if you really look at the uniforms in the movie they werent very "dirt" dirty looking if that makes sense. They had a very chalky look to them from the blown up bits of the building and very sandy obviously for the landings on the beach.

Im also just leaving all the soft parts on the roof of my house for about a week or two to let the sun do some wear on it.

If you are going to go as far as getting the vest, you should get the right jacket. ;)

Didnt have the right size and the jackets are practically the same minus the front pockets. Since its being covered up by the assault vest and this jacket will fit me better then it not to big of a deal as I dont plan on wearing it without that vest

As far as weathering goes...I'd try some charcoal grill dust and just rub it on there. You might also want to look at some pastels or pastel spray paints. I don't know what they're called, but my local art store got them in. It is pretty much pastels in a rattlecan. They come out chalky and are very nice. I'd then spray it down with hairspray as that tends to lock in stains and weathering. Good luck!
