Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

Thanks Jodo. I find it weird that I found a pair of purple pants on the year that I am not doing the Joker. haha. All be it, they are womens pants and it seems that I now know that I am a size 8. That's not bad for a 180 pounder like me! haha. Just trying my best to keep up to the other Hatters. :)

Just wondering... Would anyone like to buy my boots? They are about a 10-10.5 in size and I am an 8... I just bought another pair today that I came across at a thrift store so I will work on them a bit before I wear tham and have no use for these. PM me know if anyone wants them. Thanks Hatters. These are real vintage boots!

Seems Hot Topic is also selling a Mad Hatter jacket to go along with all of the other Mad Hatter items they're selling this Halloween. I might just pick me up one of these for my winter coat! LOL

Is the Hot Topic Mad Hatter stuff licensed? I was looking at costumes the other day and thinking that they were selling knock-offs.

No, it's not. Actualy....legaly.....it's not even Mad Hatter stuff. :p ;)

I didn't think so. :lol When I saw that the eyebrows for the "Mad Tea Host" were called Mad Rabbit Orange Eyebrows I kept picturing Thackery with the Hatter's brows. :eek

Soulinertia- Beautiful stuff! Wow. I envy your skills.

Like I said....Legaly it's not Mad Hatter stuff.

:lol :p ;)

EDIT - Also...Any other imput on weathering the coat? Aelynn said she used glues felt and then pulled it off, which I think is a great idea. :D I should have my coat tomorrow/Monday, so I'm making a "final" Halloween list for a trip to St Louis next week.

Depending on the material, just smearing glue on it looks great... which is weird... but it does! Since it dries clear, it gives it a darker, stained, crusty, burnt look without setting anything on fire. AND it's controllable...and fingerpainting with glue is fun!... >_>

I've accidentally got fabric glue all over my coat while gluing on trim and what not and it does give it a nice worn look. However, I want to weather it more without wasting my fabric glue, so would regular school glue do the trick since it dries clear?

I would assume so since they're both white paste. I'd test on a scrap piece first.

I always liked the idea of dirtying it up with glue and extra fabric and whatnot since he's a hatter. It just feels like he got a little messy while working in his craft. :D No reason we shouldn't!

Just a little update and a quick question- is the end of the Hatter's pocket watch attached anywhere or is it just hanging out of his pocket?

Things still need to be weathered and new gold scissors are on their way. :)

Well, I've read through.. oh, 48 pages of this thread so far-- and I apologize if I've missed this-- but has anyone made a suit of Alice's Armor that I can see?

My plan so far (and I doubt it'll be done in time for halloween to the specs you guys are capable of) is no metal-- metal armor is uber heavy, and not horribly practical for what i can do (I've no skill in metal working) . I'm thinking a quazi-pepakura base, prepped in a pepakura way, the flourishes added with one of the many sculptural agents out there--maybe some more bondo... (I'm working it out in my head as I type.)
Then, primed and sprayed silver.

After that, I'm thinking weathering/tarnishing with a faux finish.

For the undergarments, I'm thinking leggings and shirt either sourced or sewn from something silvery (I think I have rectangular patterned lame around that can be dulled down.)

I'm also thinking of manufacturing a jabberwocky head to cart around...although that might be a bit much... (Paper mache over an exercise ball maybe.... maybe hollow with an internal compartment to hold my stuff... a Giant Jabber-Purse... hmm.)

What do you guys think? and, Thanks for the great pictures and ideas!
