Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

Becuase I'm feeling kinky...lets talk about chains. :lol

What kind of chain is the zoot chain? And is it the same kind as the chain that is on the back? Because I'm getting confused. :lol

I'm fairly certain it's like this, right :

best drawing ever, huh? :lol

But I see the El Capitan pictures showing little ball chain for the back. So is the zoot chain, and the back chain the same type? Looks like there are a few ways they did it...Or presented it anyway.

EDIT - Check out the little dude in the diagram being hung to death. :lol :p ;)
Hey guys, I just wanted to point out that these large movies have many many sets of the costumes, and often times they do photo shoots during production stage where things are not final yet. So there are many versions of the costumes out there. So the chain on display at El Capitan could very well be different than the one actually worn by Depp during filming.

This is what I found when I was researching for the Sweeney Todd costume. Check out the vest in the first pic vs the 2nd pic. Completely different finish, and I'd say different fabric altogether.

Soooo, my point being, I'd go for the screen used look instead. btw I like the drawing.:)

But some say their thread was even mercurized. :lol

The vintage spools are all alot larger than the modern ones. I'll most proboly mix and match them, and since I have so many extras (enough for an another belt....) I'll either sell the extras towards halloween, or make another belts and sell it.

LOL, "mercerized" not "mercurized". Mercerized just means the thread went through a fancy process to make it stronger, shinier, and smoother.

Sorry I'm such a nerd when it comes to textiles. :angel

Thanx Fatal!!

maybe i'll make it more of a claymore walking stick?
as i dont want it attached to my costume having to make a sheath
for it that defeats the purpose of doing "screenlike poses"

@sithspadawan..count me in on the party..pinky's out!!

hopefully cosplaylifeforme will make it!! she's purdy...and makes
a wonderful hat.
LOL thanks! I talked with my bf and he wants to go, but do we have to dress up Alice theme? We don't have anything ready, and I'm always busy making other people's costumes and I don't have time to make something for myself!

OT again but re: the Sweeney pics you posted...he wears both of those. The velvety one is worn during Epiphany, the matte finish the rest of the movie. :)

Oh really? that movie was SO dark I couldn't tell. But thank you for letting me know. I assumed it was the same bc everything else he wears was the same. you know what they say when you assume! LOL Anyway, even though my examples were bad, my point is still the same. :)

I feel left out not having a vest! :lol

Looking excellent guys! :D

That sucks about the spools....Here I've rubbing them in my dang eyes to see if they'd change to the green color! Darn it!!!!!!!!!

:lol :lol :lol

And there's deffintly no denying it, they used alot of diffrent chain for the spools. :lol

Also, the $10 off code is valid anywhere they'll accept it. :lol :p ;)

thanks everyone

and thank you Jodo for the chain study, i was up last night fixing mine, its got all the rings and chains in all the right places now ^^

I'm quoting myself again...:angel

I've already asked this, and probably I even got answered, but I could have missed it...

What is the approx size of the spools used on the bandolier?
I know they vary a little in size from each other, but approximately?
They looks pretty tiny, ands I've seen bandolier replicas with spools way to big, so I'm asking... Thanks:)

+1
Yep, also look at the pants used in "my friend", they are different from the "usual" pinstriped ones...;)

This might have been said but i've found the shop where you can get the Pin cushion ring from, based in the UK costs about £10 with postage here. Waiting for mine now as the missus wants to use it in a photoshoot. www.sewessential.co.uk should be the right link..they have many fun things but no 'sun-flower' pins :'( boo hiiisss

yea Ramiel, there like wool pants with a front flap
i still need to make those

and stuart its not a sunflower pin
just look for flat quilting pins cause thats what it is

Alright, let me see here. Right before the flashback scene, I found something I hadn't noticed before. Another toggle clasp as it were. It hangs higher than the other. When he whips the scissors out, you can see it. Because there is a medalion above it, and this said medalion is connected to his pocked watch. I have conclusionedificated, this chain and toggle clasp hangs from his vest pocket. :lol Not from his bandolier.

Another thing I didn't notice, was the fact that his pin in his ring is a large gold shell shaped on that goes directly through the cushion, as apose to his yellow plastic one from the promo shots.

Didn't notice anything else new yet. :lol

Hey i don't know if you guys saw this already, or maybe this isn't a big deal but FIDM is having a contest on June 12 if anyone will be in the area then. It's open to the public, you don't have to be an alumni:
